Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #1

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.381/185.03, Now #1

5:12 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 79 degrees, relative humidity 53 percent, barometer 29.10 inches, adjusted altitude 2,972 feet, track temperature 124 degrees.

DeSanntis makes a clean pass to start the session.

Joe DeSantis' incremental times: 60ft-1.226 sec., 330ft-3.171, 660ft-4.770/152.76 mph, 1,000ft-6.173.


Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.236/185.46, Now #2
Right Lane: Junior Pippin Runs 7.141/189.36, Now #1

Wells is second off the line and then has the bike move steadily towards the guard rail. He make have lifted a little to straighten it out.

Pippin goes from A to B without a problem.

Wesley Wells' incremental times: 60ft-1.121 sec., 330ft-2.997, 660ft-4.607/151.02 mph, 1,000ft-6.025.
Junior Pippin's incremental times: 60ft-1.115 sec., 330ft-3.010, 660ft-4.584/155.79 mph, 1,000ft-5.960.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 20.648/33.68, Now #5
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.097/191.08, Now #1

Berry bike stutters off the line and he lifts and coasts on down.

Nice clean pass for Underdahl to tune from.

Left Lane: Angie Smith Runs 7.048/187.29, Now #1
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.056/187.60, Now #2

Gann takes "The Worlds Faster Easter Egg" [Thanks, Bob Frey] hard off the line and right down Broadway and into the #2 spot for now.

Smith looked slower, as she was much later off the line, but takes over the new top spot.

Angie Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.083 sec., 330ft-2.918, 660ft-4.481/155.88 mph, 1,000ft-5.859.
Shawn Gann's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.932, 660ft-4.499/156.26 mph, 1,000ft-5.869.

Left Lane: David Hope Runs 7.204/191.32, Now #6
Right Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.053/190.11, Now #2

Stoffer join the ladies group at the top of the ladder with a strong pass into the current #2 spot.

Good MPH for Hope, but he'll want a lot more ET.

David Hope's incremental times: 60ft-1.255 sec., 330ft-3.108, 660ft-4.668/156.81 mph, 1,000ft-6.034.
Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.075 sec., 330ft-2.925, 660ft-4.501/155.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.876.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.174/191.08, Now #7
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.982/192.71, Now #1

We get our first six second pass, as Krawiec powers on down the track with a strong 1.091 sixty foot time.

Treble's bike picked up the wheel at the launch and he had to horse the bike through the first sixty feet.

Craig Treble's incremental times: 60ft-1.159 sec., 330ft-3.063, 660ft-4.634/155.90 mph, 1,000ft-6.003.
Eddie Krawiec's incremental times: 60ft-1.091 sec., 330ft-2.922, 660ft-4.464/158.37 mph, 1,000ft-5.819.

Left Lane: LE Tonglet Runs 7.074/188.86, Now #6
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.968/193.54, Now #1

A resurgent Johnson, makes another great looking run to steal away the top spot for now.

Tonglet runs a top eight ET without any problems.

LE Tonglet's incremental times: 60ft-1.086 sec., 330ft-2.945, 660ft-4.515/155.90 mph, 1,000ft-5.891.
Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.917, 660ft-4.462/158.59 mph, 1,000ft-5.812.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 6.966/193.52, Now #1
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.974/191.24, Now #3

It's Hines turn for the top spot with another six second pass. Smith was right behind him into the #3 spot.

Andrew Hines' incremental times: 60ft-1.099 sec., 330ft-2.925, 660ft-4.463/159.12 mph, 1,000ft-5.810.
Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.075 sec., 330ft-2.897, 660ft-4.445/157.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.804.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.047/191.46, Now #5
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.090/189.44, Now #10

David Hope is on the bump spot at 7.204.

Phillips bike was strong off the line and then can't run a six second number. He'll settle for #5.

Arana is uncharacteristically slow going down the track and will need to do some homework before tonight's session.

Michael Phillips' incremental times: 60ft-1.079 sec., 330ft-2.935, 660ft-4.502/155.83 mph, 1,000ft-5.875.
Hector Arana's incremental times: 60ft-1.087 sec., 330ft-2.954, 660ft-4.528/155.20 mph, 1,000ft-5.907.

5:26 p.m. Andrew Hines is number one at 6.966 and Junior Pippin is on the bump spot at 7.141.
