Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #2

NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fourth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Bojec Runs 5.689/256.84, Now #5; Best prior run: 18.172/31.06, Was #17

Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 52 percent, barometer 29.13 inches, adjusted altitude 3,144 feet, track temperature 124 degrees.

Bojec with a great looking pass to get into the top half of the field. John Bojec's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.554, 660ft-3.775/203.61 mph, 1,000ft-4.814.


Left Lane: Andy Bohl Runs 8.275/142.49, Now #15; Best prior run: 8.220/176.84, Was #14
Right Lane: Brent Henry Runs 5.762/238.55, Now #8; Best prior run: 11.227/67.02, Was #17

Bohl was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Henry used up an engine on the top end, but still got into the top half of the show. Brent Henry's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.559, 660ft-3.789/201.22 mph, 1,000ft-4.846.

Left Lane: Cassie Simonton Runs 16.217/0.00, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.673/118.50, Was #14
Right Lane: Jason McKnight No Time, Now #17; Best prior run: 8.707/94.31, Was #17

McKnight has problems as soon as he hit the throttle and crosses the centerline around 200 feet and fortunately Simonton was up in smoke as soon as she hit the throttle and lifted or they might of got into each other. McKnight drove back into his lane and they both coasted on through the 1320.

Left Lane: John Hart No Time, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.939/244.65, Was #13
Right Lane: Wayne Butler Runs 6.915/133.16, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.933/238.09, Was #12

Hart with problems on the burnout and coast to a stop on the track around 1000 feet. Butler was on a good looking pass until around 1000 feet when the engine went silent.

Left Lane: Lance Van Hauen Runs 9.638/129.43, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.810/243.24, Was #10
Right Lane: John Anderika Runs 5.707/251.16, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.740/250.09, Was #7

Van Hauen was up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Anderika launched hard and has real nice pass to get into the to move up the ladder one spot. John Anderika's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.532, 660ft-3.759/200.71 mph, 1,000ft-4.813.

Left Lane: Larry Dobbs Runs 19.986/32.33, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.771/252.80, Was #9
Right Lane: Todd Veney Runs 5.679/254.47, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.720/252.80, Was #7

Dobbs with severe tire shake as soon as he hit the throttle and clicked it off. Veney with a real nice pass to go to the number four spot. Todd Veney's incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.540, 660ft-3.758/202.82 mph, 1,000ft-4.796.

Left Lane: Steve Harker No Time, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.687/254.09, Was #5
Right Lane: Alexis De Joria Runs 23.062/136.07, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.649/258.02, Was #3

Harker did a short burnout and backed up and did another one, but because both burnouts crossed the starting line he was shut off. De Joria was up in smoke as soon as up in smoke as soon as she hit the throttle.

Left Lane: Mickey Ferro Runs 18.280/22.99, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.593/256.06, Was #1
Right Lane: Frank Manzo Runs 5.545/260.66, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.636/259.51, Was #2

Ferro is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle. Manzo launched hard and keep it hooked up and was straight down the groove into the number one spot. Frank Manzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.952 sec., 330ft-2.472, 660ft-3.664/208.65 mph, 1,000ft-4.683.
