Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.021/296.89, Now #1

Vandergriff with a nice clean pass to start the weekend. Bob Vandergriff's incremental times: 60ft-0.888 sec., 330ft-2.254, 660ft-3.210/265.48 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 3.994/291.95, Now #1
Right Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 4.251/223.47, Now #3

Herbert making his first appearance since Charlotte and he getting some help this weekend from MTS. Herbert with a real nice pass to start the weekend. Doug Herbert's incremental times: 60ft-0.879 sec., 330ft-2.233, 660ft-3.180/267.75 mph. Dakin started drifting out of the groove toward the centerline and clicks it off early.

Left Lane: Troy Buff No Time, Now #5
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 6.640/89.70, Now #4

Buff is shut off after the burnout as he is leaking fuel. Grubnic is up in smoke right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 5.032/145.53, Now #4
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 5.121/138.19, Now #5

Torrence is up in smoke early and clicks it off and McMillen is loses traction right after Torrence.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.982/280.25, Now #1
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 5.273/135.41, Now #7

Lucas starts to lose traction and clicks it off. Langdon keeps it hooked up and goes to the number one spot. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.867 sec., 330ft-2.205, 660ft-3.158/263.41 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 7.427/84.49, Now #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.996/301.00, Now #3

Bernstein starts to lose traction around 330 feet, and clicks it off. Brown makes a full pull to go to the number three spot. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.224, 660ft-3.191/262.49 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 6.576/100.48, Now #10
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.994/301.54, Now #2

Kalitta is up in smoke early and click it off. McClenathan keeps the Goodyears hooked and goes to the number two spot. Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.216, 660ft-3.188/260.46 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.996/300.53, Now #6
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.986/305.91, Now #2

Our last pair and it the first side-by-side drag race of the session. Dixon goes to the number two spot and Schumacher to number six. Dixon with the fastest pass of the session. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.219, 660ft-3.193/262.79 mph.
Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.219, 660ft-3.188/262.18 mph.
