Funny Car Qualifying Notes, Session #3

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Funny Car at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 41st annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: Dale Creasy Jr. Runs 5.445/132.97, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.613/0.00, Was #12

1:12 p.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 55 percent, barometer 29.98 inches, adjusted altitude 2,090 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

Creasy took to car to mid track, then clicked it off.


Right Lane: Jim Head Runs 4.294/230.29, Now #11; No Prior Run

Head had a straight run but started losing cylinders three-fourths of the way down the track.

Left Lane: Ron Capps Runs 4.119/300.40, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.155/0.00, Was #7
Right Lane: Ashley Force Hood Runs 4.142/300.66, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.164/0.00, Was #8

Capps moved up three spots in the order, Force Hood moved up one spot with a pair of nice runs.

Left Lane: Cruz Pedregon Runs 4.126/291.76, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.171/0.00, Was #9
Right Lane: Jack Beckman Runs 4.262/291.95, Now #11; No Prior Run

Pedregon had his low ET of the weekend so far and moved up two spots in the order. Beckman put himself into the number 11 spot for now with a nice run down the track.

Left Lane: Matt Hagan Runs 4.761/166.68, Now #5; Best prior run: 4.119/0.00, Was #5
Right Lane: Tony Pedregon Runs 4.589/185.84, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.200/253.56, Was #10

Hagan smoked the tires at 660 feet, Pedregon's car lost power halfway down the track.

Left Lane: Del Worsham Runs 4.135/306.88, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.517/0.00, Was #13
Right Lane: Bob Tasca III Runs 4.792/167.38, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.121/305.91, Was #6

Tasca had a good run going, then the rear tires shook and he clicked it off. Worsham had his quickest run of the weekend so far and moved up five spots in the order.

Left Lane: Tim Wilkerson Runs 4.113/302.14, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.145/0.00, Was #10
Right Lane: Jeff Arend Runs 4.174/300.93, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.075/300.20, Was #3

Both drivers had nice runs. Wilkerson moved up six spots in the order with the quickest round of this session so far. Arend was not quick enough to move up in the order.

Left Lane: John Force Runs 5.007/160.10, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.037/313.73, Was #2
Right Lane: Robert Hight Runs 5.168/142.84, Now #1; Best prior run: 4.025/313.00, Was #1

Force and Hight launched together, got to 330 feet together, then spun the tires together, and clicked their cars off together. That's it for the third session of Pro qualifying here today.
