By Jim Samuel

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 41st annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Doug Foley Runs 5.022/142.00, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.814/318.24, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.838/316.38, Was #7

12:47 p.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 55 percent, barometer 29.98 inches, adjusted altitude 2,090 feet, track temperature 104 degrees.

Foley pulled the front wheels about a foot into the air when he launched. He got them back down right away, the spun the tires at 330 feet and shut it down. Dixon took his dragster straight down the groove and moved up in the qualifying order.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.838/315.12, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.830/319.52, Was #6
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.971/294.63, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.915/306.33, Was #12

Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.862/311.27, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.835/313.95, Was #7

Langdon is also racing in Super Gas here this weekend and already won in the first round. In what appears to be a developing trend, Lucas and Langdon each had good runs that did nothing to improve their places in the order.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.853/314.90, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.859/317.27, Was #8
Right Lane: Steve Torrence No Time, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.819/313.07, Was #5

Torrence could not get his car started. Kalitta had his best run of the weekend but was not quick enough to improve.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.893/307.79, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.903/309.56, Was #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 5.240/130.68, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.817/315.86, Was #4

Brown was quick at 60 feet and looked good at 330, but then spun the tires and backed out of this run. Grubnic had his quickest run of the weekend so far and moved up one spot in the order.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.627/160.18, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.807/313.73, Was #2
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.815/318.54, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.752/324.75, Was #1

Last night, McClenathan had the quickest ET ever to 1,000 feet. Bernstein had a nice run going but started spitting out cylinders at about 660 feet. McClenathan stays in the number spot.
