Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #3
By Jim Samuel

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 41st annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 6.698/206.80, Now #13; No Prior Run

12:12 p.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 80 degrees, relative humidity 55 percent, barometer 30.01 inches, adjusted altitude 2,021 feet, track temperature 97 degrees.

Nobile went down the groove but we'll have to wait and see if this is good enough to make the field. There were 23 drivers who made qualifying runs yesterday.

Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 6.633/207.62, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.714/205.66, Now #15; No Prior Run

Both drivers looked good coming off the starting line and neither appeared to have any problem on the track. Both drivers had ETs that were goo enough to make the field, for now.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.584/209.30, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Jimmy Alund Runs 6.696/206.73, Now #15; No Prior Run

John had the quickest run of the day so far. Both he and Alund were quick enough to make the field for now, but neither is safe from being bumped.

Left Lane: John Gaydosh Jr Runs 6.829/200.77, Now #19; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.659/208.07, Now #15; No Prior Run

Krisher had a little bit of tire spin coming out of the gate but still managed to be quick enough to make the field for now. Gaydosh was not quick enough and is still outside, looking in. Jimmy Alund is on the bump spot at 6.696.

Left Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.678/206.54, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.619/208.20, Now #14; No Prior Run

Stanfield pushed Alund put of the field and got in with a nice pass down the quarter mile. Benza was not quick enough to make the field. Ron Krisher is on the bump spot at 6.659.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.607/208.49, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.614/210.05, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.571/210.64, Was #11

Gaines got in and bumped Krisher with this run. Johnson will stay where he was in the order. Justin Humphreys is on the bump spot at 6.633.

Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.758/206.67, Now #22; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.626/208.01, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.564/209.43, Was #9

Morgan made the quickest run in a Ford Pro Stock car ever last night. ones' car got loose as soon as he launched and looked like it was going to go sideways. He got it straightened out but was to quick enough to get into the show. Morgan took his Mustang straight down the groove but will stay where he was in the order.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 15.784/43.82, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.571/210.37, Was #12
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.621/208.36, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.562/210.14, Was #7

Brogdon spun the tires as he launched and got off the throttle right away.

Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.589/208.94, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.568/210.14, Was #10
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.604/209.46, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.562/210.37, Was #6

This was a pair of nice runs by the Gray family, but neither had any effect on their places in the qualifying order.

Left Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.597/209.59, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.564/210.34, Was #8
Right Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.590/209.56, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.562/211.00, Was #5

Another pair of good looking runs that had no effect on the order.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.672/208.75, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.560/211.23, Was #4
Right Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 6.648/207.40, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.558/210.01, Was #3

Both drives launched well and took their cars straight down the groove. But given the difference in weather conditions between last night and today, they were not as quick as their second session times.

Left Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.594/209.79, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.548/210.93, Was #2
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.579/210.31, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.513/211.49, Was #1

Edwards and Deceglie put down another pair of good runs but there was no effect on the order. After three qualifying sessions, Edwards is at the top and Justin Humphreys is on the bump spot at 6.633.
