Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 41st annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: John Nobile Runs 14.921/55.70, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.723/206.73, Was #21

8:15 p.m. - Nobile launched, went toward the centerline and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.676/206.92, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.704/206.23, Was #20
Right Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 16.286/45.30, Now #23; Best prior run: 13.449/63.03, Was #23

Humphreys launched, shook the rear tires and shut down before he reached 330 feet. Patrick had his best run so far but it was still not good enough to make the field.

Left Lane: Jimmy Alund Runs 6.638/207.02, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.650/207.11, Was #18
Right Lane: John Gaydosh Jr Runs 6.783/202.55, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.795/201.82, Was #22

Alund was a little quicker and moved up one spot, but not far enough to make the field. Gaydosh was quicker than the first session but not quick enough to make the top 16.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.572/209.33, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.642/208.26, Was #18
Right Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.715/206.67, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.650/207.02, Was #19

Stanfield moved up seven spots with this ride. Benza was not as quick as the first session.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.571/210.64, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.637/210.37, Was #17
Right Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.571/209.59, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.615/207.62, Was #15

Identical ETs for both drivers. Johnson moved up 15 spots in the order, Jones tied his career best to move up 11 spots.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.562/210.14, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.624/209.07, Was #17
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.571/210.37, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.601/209.75, Was #15

Johnson went down the groove to move up 15 spots. Brogdon moved up 11 spots with the third 6.571 second ET of the session.

Left Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 6.558/210.01, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.608/208.78, Was #17
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.564/210.34, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.596/210.01, Was #14

Yonke had the quickest run of his career to move into the number two spot. Anderson got from the bottom to the top fourth of the order with a strong run.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.589/209.65, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.600/209.82, Was #17
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.573/210.18, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.591/209.20, Was #15

Both drivers went right down the groove to move up in the qualifying order.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.564/209.43, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.598/208.94, Was #17
Right Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.568/210.14, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.586/209.65, Was #15

Morgan and Gray continued a string of great runs to jump up in the order. This was a career best ET for Morgan and a season best ET for Gray.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.562/210.37, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.585/210.64, Was #15
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.560/211.23, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.586/209.75, Was #16

Gray had his career best ET to move up 11 spots in the order. Line had a similar jump with a nice pass down the quarter mile.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.562/211.00, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.571/210.18, Was #11
Right Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.548/210.93, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.580/210.34, Was #16

Another career best ET...this time, it's Deceglie. Coughlin's run would probably have been even quicker had hi car not made a little move toward the center line as it came off the starting line.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.513/211.49, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.550/210.70, Was #2
Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 13.293/64.13, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.576/210.11, Was #16

Johnson's car got a little loose as he launched, so he backed off. Edwards had a strong run that became the third quickest run in Pro Stock history and put him back at the top of the order.
