Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 41st annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Doug Foley Runs 6.554/87.48, Now #1

Foley made to about 330 feet before he started to shake the tires and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 4.444/181.86, Now #1
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 4.779/155.81, Now #2

Chrisman having trouble on the burnout and is pushed back to the starting line, but the car is still fired. He starts to lose traction around half track and clicks it off. McMillen starts to lose traction before half track and he clicks it off.

Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 5.266/125.90, Now #4
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.863/304.12, Now #1

Grubnic starts to shake and he clicks it off...Torrence launches hard and keeps it hooked up with a real nice pass. Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.079/272.23 mph.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.913/302.69, Now #3
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.835/313.95, Now #1

Langdon with a great looking pass to go to the number one spot...Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.147, 660ft-3.064/275.34 mph. Lucas with a nice pass to start the weekend...Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.185, 660ft-3.117/268.28 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.900/309.34, Now #3
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.209/227.65, Now #5

Bernstein with a nice pass to go to the number three spot...Brown started hazing the tires on the top end and then started mixing up cylinders before he clicked it off.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.859/317.27, Now #3
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.843/317.12, Now #2

This was a good side-by-side drag race as these two go to the number two and three spots. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.171, 660ft-3.093/275.11 mph.
Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.835 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.077/275.17 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.830/319.52, Now #1
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.838/316.38, Now #3

This was a great drag race to wrap up round one of qualifying...Schumacher goes to the number one spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.828 sec., 330ft-2.144, 660ft-3.067/274.66 mph. Dixon is just a couple ticks back for the number three spot. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.840 sec., 330ft-2.155, 660ft-3.072/276.52 mph.
