Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #1
By Jim Samuel

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 41st annual NHRA SuperNationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Jack Baldwin Runs 8.021/166.76, Now #2
Right Lane: Thomas Miceli Runs 7.308/176.01, Now #1

4:34 p.m. - Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 54 percent, barometer 30.05 inches, adjusted altitude 1,722 feet, track temperature 106 degrees.

Racing has resumed after a nearly three-and-a-half hour delay that came after Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Neal Parker crashed when the chutes on his car did not open and he went through the sand trap and into the net. Parker died as a result of that crash.

Both riders went straight down the track, but Baldwin never really got up to speed. Miceli did not get his motorcycle stopped in time and went into the sand.

Right Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.211/185.51, Now #1

DeSantis spun the rear tire off the starting line.

Left Lane: Wesley Wells Runs 7.072/191.05, Now #1
Right Lane: Redell Harris Runs 7.129/185.97, Now #2

Both riders took their motorcycles down the groove to move to the top of the order for now.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.290/181.28, Now #5
Right Lane: Jim Underdahl Runs 7.036/189.90, Now #1

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 6.901/191.70, Now #1
Right Lane: David Hope Runs 8.151/163.83, Now #11

Hope had trouble getting into second gear. Stoffer was the first rider to break into the sixes here today and is now at the top of the qualifying order.

Left Lane: Craig Treble No Time, Now #13
Right Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 6.940/194.63, Now #2

Treble's bike launched and he clicked it off. Johnson had a clean run that was quick enough to put him into the number two spot in the order for now.

Right Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 6.908/196.07, Now #2

Left Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.019/191.89, Now #6
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.021/185.31, Now #7

Krawiec used to work here at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. Both riders spun the tires off the starting line.
