JOLIET, Ill. - 5:40 p.m. - Wash, rinse, repeat.

The track was dry, the shutdown area was almost finished, and drivers were suiting up.

Then it started raining again - at first a brief sprinkle, enough to send the Top Alcohol Funny Cars back to the pits, then a downpour that sent the spectators running for cover.

The rain has stopped and track drying is starting over again.

Plan B is to finish the Top Alcohol Funny Car session, then run one round of Pro qualifying.

Top Alcohol Dragster qualifying hasn't been ruled out, but is unlikely.

The first round of eliminations for Competition Eliminator has been postponed to tomorrow.

Tomorrow's forecast looks worse than today's, so we probably will see Plans C, D, E ...

6:30 p.m. Late update - Plan C: racing will resume with the Pro qualifying session, then the unfinished Top Alcohol Funny Car and first Top Alcohol Dragster sessions.
