Rain Ends, Track Drying Starts
By Larry Sullivan

JOLIET, Ill. - 3:55 p.m. - The rain is slowing and weather radar shows the back side of the weather front should be passing through in the next next few minutes.

Race officials hope to get the track dry about an hour or so after the rain stops.

If that works out, here's the plan:

- Finish the round of TAFC qualifying that was under way when racing stopped (first due to a car hard into the catch net, then off-and-on rain).

- Run the first Pro qualifying session (Pro Stock Motorcycle, Pro Stock, Funny Car, Top Fuel).

- Run the first round of qualifying for Top Alcohol Dragster.

- Run the first round of eliminations for Competition Eliminator

- Run the second round of Pro qualifying.

Track worker are already moving water to start the track drying process. Stay tuned, we should be racing in and hour or more (probably a bit more).
