Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 26th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.933/309.63, Now #9; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Andy Carter Runs 8.687/72.00, Now #14; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 62 degrees, relative humidity 52 percent, barometer 28.64 inches, adjusted altitude 2,219 feet, track temperature 74 degrees.

Carter making his first pass of the weekend. The car is dropping cylinders right at the hit and he clicks it off. Grubnic with his quickest pass of the weekend...David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.207, 660ft-3.146/268.44 mph.


Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 4.048/287.29, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.987/282.60, Now #12; No Prior Run

Chrisman with his quickest pass of the weekend...Steven Chrisman's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.197, 660ft-3.202/247.84 mph. Buff was on a good pass until right in the lights when it burned up a bunch of pistons. This is Buff's best pass of the weekend...Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.195, 660ft-3.149/260.11 mph.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.935/297.55, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.984/274.66, Was #11
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 3.896/303.43, Now #8; Best prior run: 4.076/226.77, Was #14

Lucas was on a good pass until right in the lights when it appeared to use up the engine with a quick flash of flames. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.186, 660ft-3.126/265.95 mph. McMillen was on good pass until around 660 feet when hiked the front wheels. Terry McMillen's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.196, 660ft-3.109/273.83 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.863/312.13, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.904/312.57, Was #9
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.838/315.34, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.884/309.91, Was #7

Brown with a great looking pass and strong top end charge. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.849 sec., 330ft-2.159, 660ft-3.071/276.86 mph. Bernstein with his quickest pass of the weekend to move into the top half of the show. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.154, 660ft-3.084/271.41 mph.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.857/310.98, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.870/315.12, Was #7
Right Lane: Steve Torrence Runs 3.875/308.92, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.871/306.81, Was #8

Torrence with another good looking pass, but doesn't improve...Steve Torrence's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.178, 660ft-3.095/273.72 mph. Langdon with his quickest pass of the weekend...the car drifted out of the groove on the top end and close to the wall. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.168, 660ft-3.081/276.01 mph.

Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.888/300.33, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.841/310.63, Was #5
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.818/317.05, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.827/316.60, Was #2

Schumacher launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.146, 660ft-3.054/277.83 mph. No improvement here for McClenathan, but still another good looking pass. Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.163, 660ft-3.084/267.16 mph.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 10.908/70.34, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.837/317.57, Was #3
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 9.354/72.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.825/317.05, Was #2

Dixon is up in smoke as soon as he hits the throttle. Kalitta starts to lose traction early and clicks it off.
