Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 26th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Gordie Rivera No Time, Now #23; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 26 percent, barometer 28.56 inches, adjusted altitude 3,142 feet, track temperature 96 degrees.

Rivera was straight and clean until around 800 feet and then it appears like something broke because the car made a sudden right hand turn and then flipped on to it's roof. The car slid into right hand wall and then on down the track on the roof. The report from the top end is Rivera is out of the car and okay.


Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 11.688/86.95, Now #22; Best prior run: 7.432/156.64, Was #21
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 6.764/191.10, Now #20; No Prior Run

WJ spun the tires right off the starting line and clicked it off. Nobile pushed in the clutch early...

Left Lane: Danny Gruninger Runs 8.579/105.53, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.744/205.69, Was #19
Right Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 6.666/207.88, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.858/202.91, Was #21

Gruninger pushed in the around 330 feet. Yonke with a real nice looking pass to get into the top half of the show.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.680/207.43, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.703/207.85, Was #18
Right Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.728/206.16, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.704/205.13, Was #19

Johnson improves, but not enough to get in the show. Spiess slows from his time earlier today.

Left Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.666/206.57, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.689/207.21, Was #16
Right Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.733/206.20, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.701/206.29, Was #18

Deceglie with a nice looking pass and he gets in the show and that bumps out Brogdon. Vinnie Deceglie's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.781, 660ft-4.281/164.35 mph, 1,000ft-5.573. No help here for Gray.

Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 12.068/72.81, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.684/206.99, Was #16
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.660/208.17, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.694/206.61, Was #17

Humphreys with a lot tire spin right off the starting line and clicked it off. Stanfield with a great looking pass to get in the show and that bumped out Humphrey. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.785, 660ft-4.281/164.69 mph, 1,000ft-5.570.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.671/207.62, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.680/207.75, Was #14
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.683/207.11, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.681/206.54, Was #16

No help here for Gray. Brogdon improves on his time from earlier today, but not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: Ronnie Humphrey Runs 6.667/207.82, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.674/208.20, Was #14
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 7.615/130.73, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.670/206.39, Was #12

Humphrey improves and gets in the show and that bumps out Gaines who has problems in the other lane and pushes in the clutch early.

Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.671/206.57, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.660/206.48, Was #7
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.673/208.14, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.670/207.85, Was #12

Another good looking pass, but he doesn't improve...Rickie Jones' incremental times: 60ft-0.971 sec., 330ft-2.775, 660ft-4.281/163.55 mph, 1,000ft-5.576. Line with a good pass, but doesn't improve and stays on the bump. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.989 sec., 330ft-2.797, 660ft-4.295/164.57 mph, 1,000ft-5.583.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.946/168.58, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.641/208.94, Was #4
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.687/207.53, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.663/207.05, Was #8

Coughlin pushed in the clutch early...Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.799, 660ft-4.302/163.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.594.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.647/208.39, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.635/208.88, Was #3
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.674/207.98, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.652/208.07, Was #5

Anderson was out of the groove, but stayed with it. Johnson with the quickest pass of the round. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.778, 660ft-4.274/165.03 mph, 1,000ft-5.560.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.614/209.30, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.609/209.46, Was #1
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.657/208.07, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.627/207.53, Was #2

Edwards launched hard and runs the quickest pass pass of the round by 0.033 seconds. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.769, 660ft-4.255/165.90 mph, 1,000ft-5.533. Krisher with the third quickest pass of the round. Ron Krisher's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.790, 660ft-4.283/165.05 mph, 1,000ft-5.569.
