Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Final Session

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 50th annual Kragen O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals presented by Valvoline listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Danny Gruninger Runs 6.657/207.62, Now #16; Best prior run: 11.981/73.52, Was #20
Right Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 7.859/129.29, Now #21; Best prior run: 14.638/59.79, Was #22

Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 31 percent, barometer 28.88 inches, adjusted altitude 2,645 feet, track temperature 82 degrees.

Jones with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will not get in the show. Gruninger with his quickest pass of the weekend and he gets in the show. That will get him the show for now. Danny Gruninger's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.782, 660ft-4.280/165.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.571.


Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.627/208.52, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.672/208.01, Was #18
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 15.412/53.34, Now #22; Best prior run: 14.265/60.19, Was #22

No help here for Nobile...Gray with his quickest pass of the weekend and that will get him in the show and bump out Gruninger. Johnny Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.266/165.68 mph, 1,000ft-5.547. Justin Humphreys is on the bump spot at 6.650.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.669/207.43, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.661/207.69, Was #18
Right Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 6.654/208.14, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.502/173.16, Was #20

Gaines will not get in the show...Yonke with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he will not get in the show. Bob Yonke's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.791, 660ft-4.286/165.09 mph, 1,000ft-5.571.

Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 6.679/209.10, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.650/208.49, Was #16
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.659/208.36, Now #19; Best prior run: 6.820/207.34, Was #20

W.J with his quickest pass of the weekend, but he won't get into the show. Warren Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.798, 660ft-4.293/164.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.578. No help here for Humphreys, but he stays on the bump. Justin Humphreys' incremental times: 60ft-1.015 sec., 330ft-2.814, 660ft-4.310/167.05 mph, 1,000ft-5.597.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.649/207.88, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.645/207.78, Was #15
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.627/209.39, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.637/208.78, Was #13

Morgan with another nice looking pass and he will put his new Mustang in the show. Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.783, 660ft-4.277/165.09 mph, 1,000ft-5.564. Johnson with his quickest pass of the weekend to move up the ladder. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.993 sec., 330ft-2.780, 660ft-4.267/165.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.548.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.644/208.20, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.642/208.23, Was #14
Right Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.652/207.91, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.631/208.26, Was #12

Gray with another good looking pass, that make three 6.64 passes. No help her for Spiess, but he will start the race.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.619/210.24, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.632/209.62, Was #13
Right Lane: Ronnie Humphrey Runs 6.619/209.75, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.629/209.17, Was #11

These two run together all the way down the 1320 and Line gets the higher qualifying spot based on the faster mph. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.784, 660ft-4.269/167.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.544.
Ronnie Humphrey's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.779, 660ft-4.264/166.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.542.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.595/207.34, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.611/209.39, Was #6
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.635/209.14, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.617/209.23, Was #8

Nice pass for Stanfield, but he doesn't improve. Johnson with a great pass, straight down the groove and moves up the ladder to the number four spot. Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.247/166.37 mph, 1,000ft-5.520.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 7.616/136.50, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.603/209.23, Was #5
Right Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.623/209.17, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.613/209.23, Was #7

Brogdon is real loose right off the starting line and reels it in, but then gets loose again before he clicks it off. Deceglie with another good looking pass, but will stay in the number seven spot. Vinnie Deceglie's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.774, 660ft-4.262/165.56 mph, 1,000ft-5.543.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.612/210.08, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.591/209.59, Was #2
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 10.915/82.61, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.608/209.82, Was #6

Anderson gets real loose and has the car side ways and clicks it off. Coughlin is straight down the groove and runs his his fastest pass of the weekend. Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.777, 660ft-4.262/165.86 mph, 1,000ft-5.539.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.589/210.83, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.578/211.00, Was #1
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.628/209.14, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.595/209.75, Was #3

Krisher with a nice pass, and Edwards is quick of the round again. He is straight down the groove. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.768, 660ft-4.247/166.62 mph, 1,000ft-5.519.
