Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

POMONA, Calif. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 50th annual Kragen O'Reilly NHRA Winternationals presented by Valvoline listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Justin Humphreys Runs 6.678/207.94, Now #15; Best prior run: 24.106/34.75, Was #23

Weather conditions: air temperature 68 degrees, relative humidity 47 percent, barometer 28.95 inches, adjusted altitude 2,201 feet, track temperature 96 degrees.

Humphreys is able to get it down the track today, but doesn't get in the show.


Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 6.681/208.14, Now #17; Best prior run: 9.483/163.57, Was #21
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.623/209.62, Now #8; Best prior run: 13.511/64.16, Was #23

After struggling yesterday, Anderson is able to get down the track and into the show. Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.784, 660ft-4.269/165.82 mph, 1,000ft-5.546. Gray makes an improvement, but doesn't get in the show.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.640/209.79, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.235/149.03, Was #22
Right Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 8.395/116.98, Now #23; Best prior run: 12.807/69.23, Was #23

Jones continues to struggle...Line gets down the track today and into the show. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.997 sec., 330ft-2.795, 660ft-4.283/165.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.563.

Left Lane: Gordie Rivera Runs 17.916/56.35, Now #22; Best prior run: 6.730/204.54, Was #22
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.654/208.71, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.730/207.50, Was #21

Rivera shakes as soon as he lets the clutch out and clicks it off. Johnson improves, but not enough to get in the show. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.999 sec., 330ft-2.795, 660ft-4.288/164.87 mph, 1,000ft-5.572.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.674/207.30, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.707/207.72, Was #21
Right Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 6.675/208.01, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.676/205.91, Was #17

Yonke with a slight improvement, but not enough to get in the show. Morgan makes a move in the right direction, but not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: Danny Gruninger Runs 6.681/206.99, Now #21; Best prior run: 6.697/207.18, Was #21
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.673/208.10, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.662/208.10, Was #16

No help here for W.J. Gruninger improves, but not enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.675/207.62, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.647/207.82, Was #13
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 6.670/207.72, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.660/207.82, Was #15

Neither driver improves and they will stay 13 and 15.

coughlin with a good looking pass, straight down the groove. Deceglie with a nice pass.
