POMONA, Calif. -- The U.S. Army announced today it has expanded its relationship with NHRA Top Fuel driver Antron Brown.

Brown, who piloted a U.S. Army Pro Stock Motorcycle for more than four seasons, will make personal appearances in key markets to assist the Army in reaching young Americans and their influencers.

"We're pleased to expand our relationship with Antron," said Lt. General Benjamin C. Freakley, Commander of the U.S. Army Accessions Command. "Antron did an outstanding job representing our Soldiers when he competed with the U.S. Army Suzuki and he's continued to work with us via the Youth & Education Services program the past two seasons.

"Antron's new role will help us encourage students to study science, technology, engineering and math in high school and college. He will take a leading role in helping educate young Americans on the many leadership opportunities available in the U.S. Army."

A 24-time NHRA winner, Brown is just as excited about re-uniting with his former sponsor.

"This is an awesome deal to bring the U.S. Army to our Matco Tools team." he offered. "I had a very good relationship with them when I was riding the bike for DSR (from July 2003 through 2007). Who can't get pumped up about joining forces with the great Soldiers who protect our freedom every day? Our racing family has now gotten even stronger with all of the U.S. Army Soldiers supporting our team."

Brown joins fellow DSR Top Fuel driver Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher and NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Ryan Newman as part of the U.S. Army Racing family.

At this year's Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, the U.S. Army will mark its 10-year anniversary as Schumacher's sponsor.

The U.S. Army Accessions Command (USAAC), a subordinate command of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, meets the human resource needs of the Army by transforming volunteers into officers, warrant officers, and enlisted Soldiers. In providing the force, the 18,400 men and women of Accessions Command prepare these future Soldiers and leaders for their initial military training. Commanded by Lt. Gen. Benjamin C. Freakley, USAAC is located at Fort Knox, Ky., and Fort Monroe, Va.
