Jim Harrington passed away on December 29, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Jim was born and raised in
New Jersey before moving to North Carolina a few years ago. He recently moved back to Woodland
Park, New Jersey. Jim was a great racer and a friend to everyone in the drag racing community. In
addition to his racing, he was also was the owner and operator of Jim Harrington's Drag Racing
School which was based at Atco Dragway. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association and the
International Hot Rod Association and had won many races on the local, divisional and national
level as well as several big bracket races.
More than his racing though, Jim was known for his positive attitude, his great smile and the way
he always treated and helped his fellow racers. He was a great part of the drag racing scene for
many years and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Tracey Young-Harrington of Woodland Park.
Funeral services will be this Saturday 10:30 am at the Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten
Avenue, Clifton. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Visiting will be
Thursday from 2 to 5 pm and Friday from 3 to 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, per Jim's request, the
family has asked that donations be made in Jim's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501
St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
