MOHNTON, Pa. --
A new surface should translate into record runs by drivers from all classes, especially at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event in May and the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals in October. "We think it is outstanding that Maple Grove Raceway is going to make this investment in the racing surface," said team owner and former racer Kenny Bernstein, a three-time national event winner at The Grove. "This track is notoriously quick and fast and with these improvements it will make better racing for the fans and competitors. With the NHRA event scheduled during the cool October climate, with these improvements we might see some of the quickest and fastest times of the season."
The improvements, which will be done in time for the May 1, 2010 season opener, include: Maple Grove will be making an investment of $300,000 for the upgrades. "The improvements to the racing surface further emphasizes the Stauffer family's commitment to making Maple Grove Raceway the best it can be," said MGR vice president/general manager Lex Dudas. The 2010 racing season includes "Pinks All Out" on May 14-15; the LODRS on May 27-30; Geezers at The Grove Reunion on July 2-3; Super Chevy Show on July 16-18; the Toyo Tires Nationals on Oct. 7-10; and the Pennsylvania Dutch Classic on Oct. 21-24.
