DURAND, Ill. --
Family patriarch Ron "The General" Folk enjoyed success in limited action behind the wheel. Ron drove his dragster to a Quick Rod victory at the IHRA national event in Grand Bend, Ontario and earned a berth in IHRA's Tournament of Champions runoff to be held next May. Both Brian and Nick Folk join "The General" in IHRA's premier event next spring by virtue of strong points finishes in IHRA's Division 5 Thunder region. There, Nick Folk, the defending Stock World Champion, dominated the Stock category again in 2009, posting a whopping 497 point score on the strength of four Pro-Am tour victories to runaway with the division crown. Brian Folk joined his brother as a division champion, taking the Super Rod crown in the families Camaro Roadster. Both Brian and Nick also qualified for the tournament of champions in a second class; Brian finished second in Division 5 Top Dragster points, while Nick also earned a second place finish in Division 5 Super Stock. Brian Folk also enjoyed a solid season ending run at last weekend's 5-Day Bracket Championships at Palm Beach International Raceway. Folk, a two-time champion of the event (formerly known as the Moroso 5-Day Championships), won the opening $10,000 event, and appeared in a $5,000-to-win 1/8th mile final round before finishing the week in third position in the points championship. Nick Folk enjoyed arguably the best season of his fantastic career. Folk earned IHRA national event triumphs in Immokalee (Stock) and Pittsburgh (Super Stock), to go along with an NHRA national event win in St. Louis (Super Comp) and an IHRA runner-up in Baton Rouge (Top Dragster). He compiled five IHRA Pro-Am victories to go along with an NHRA Lucas Oil Series win in Earlville, IA. As if that weren't enough, Folk was a constant fixture in the late rounds of the biggest bracket events in the country. He scored final round appearances at the Bradenton Winter Series, The New World 5-Day Championships in South Georgia, the 5-Day Bracket Championships at Palm Beach, the 7-come-11 Hi-Rollers Shootout in Wisconsin, and the World Super Pro Challenge in Michigan.
