SAN ANTONIO, Texas --

Peggy Llewellyn and her NHRA helmet sponsor, AKUMA Helmets, teamed up to design an exclusive helmet for Divas For A Cure to be auctioned.

“This would be a great Christmas gift for riding and racing enthusiast, and you will be contributing to a great cause,” said Llewellyn. “I am really happy AKUMA and I were able to design such a great helmet.”

The helmet is a PHANTON II MFR Racing Helmet, customized with a pink base donning the Divas For A Cure logo on either side and Llewellyn’s signature “Danger – I’m Fabulous” design, with authentic autograph on the back. It is currently being auctioned on ebay.com - Autographed Peggy Llewellyn (DFAC) Akuma Helmet - http://bit.ly/4D17PN.

The bidding begins at $500.00, and the auction ends on Dec. 15, 2009, 5:05:48 PST. The helmet size is small. This custom autographed helmet has a retail value of $900.00. All proceeds benefiting the Divas For A Cure organization.

AKUMA Helmets, an American owned and operated company, combines some of the most sought after features in motorcycle helmets into one helmet. They are most noted for the I.P.S.® (Integrated Power System) technology used in the motorcycle helmet line. The patented system, developed by former Navy pilot and company President and CEO Kerry Harris, allows all electronic features to be powered directly from the helmet itself. The helmets also integrates trademarked hyper-graphics, Transitions™ SOLFX® photochromic visors, high visibility LEDs built into the back of the helmets, and an ultra bright map/utility light built into the front of the helmet.

Llewellyn is a professional motorcyclist on the NHRA circuit and the first woman of color in the world to win a professional motorsports event, when she won her first professional racing event at the NHRA POWERade Series, O’Reilly Fall Nationals in Dallas 2007, earning her an appearance in the inaugural Countdown to 4 and Countdown to 1, giving her a finish in the POWERade top five in standings where she recorded her post-career-best time and speed.

Divas For A Cure (DFAC) is a unique national service-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of Black and Latina women, who ride motorcycles across country to increase awareness and raise funds to support a cure for breast cancer throughout the year and participate in their signature fundraiser, Divas For A Cure Breast Cancer Motorcycle Run. Based in California, the four-year organization, supported by Harley-Davidson Motor Company, clocked over 22,000 miles across the United States for the cause and donated over $110,000 to MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, where DFAC has a dedicated treatment room.

In past years, Divas For A Cure has enjoyed the support of such celebrities as Award-winning, Bestselling African American Authors Nina Foxx and Eric Jerome Dickey, International Male Supermodel and Actor Tyson Beckford, Comedian and Actor Joe Torry, and Hollywood Stunt Man and former Dancer Lionel Douglass.
