ENNIS, Texas -- The world of drag racing couldn't be any more anxious to see what NHRA has
in store for the fans that plan on being onsite for the O'Rielly Super
Start NHRA Fall Nationals this weekend at the Texas Motorplex. Especially
for this particular dragstrip that is known for its fast and narrow grove
mayhem that only makes drag racing that much more tedious, but also
exciting.
On the other hand, just this past weekend, Team Tanksley anchored its
pirogue in the bayou of Belle Rose, Louisiana at No Problem Raceway Park.
Their Ballistic Racecraft dragster that's powered by a Steve Kent owned
Patterson Racing small-block screamed through the gears down the
quarter-mile earning the number one qualifying spot, but fell short to
Bruno Massel's turbocharged entry in only the third round. Joey Tanksley
states, "We had the car running great, and we simply made a mistake." He
continued by stating, "When you make a mistake in this kind of racing, you
can only get over it by making sure it never happens again, and that's for
sure." The team would also like to give special thanks to Rhett Fulton and
Shane Holly for putting out a large fire started by an engine explosion
that occurred in the pit area prior to eliminations at the same race. Also
to thank is Roger Green, Damon and Georgie Acosta, Byron Latino, and many
others for helping get the engine back together. Joey concluded, "This
weekend is somewhat of a redemption for our runner-up at the U.S.
Nationals. Our team's comfort zone is in the final round, and that's where
we want to be this weekend. For us, Steve and Trudy Kent, and everyone who
has helped us get to where we are, it's show time."
So it's off to the races for Team Tanksley. Victory is in their eye, and
falling short of such isn't in their game plan. Be sure to follow along
for Competition Eliminator qualifying and eliminations. Also, for those
that can't make it to the show, be sure to tune in via NHRA Audiocast for
live broadcasting of the event.
