ROCKINGHAM, N.C. -- Mel Bush and his Mel Bush Motorsports team are looking to stretch the legs of their new Dan Page built 70 ? Camaro in front of a record-setting crowd at this weekend's Flowmaster Dragstock VI in Rockingham, NC, held at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, NC, Prior to Dragstock the Mel Bush Motorsports crew took their new Camaro to Mooresville Dragway in Mooresville, NC for some test laps. With team driver Tommy D'Aprile unable to make the test session Mike Janis took the Chuck Yeager role as test pilot for the Mel Bush machine. "It's always weird stepping into someone else's ride but this car is very similar to my Firebird that Dan (Page) built for me. So, I felt pretty comfortable. This car performed very well so far and I think she's going to be very fast," said Janis. Crew Chief Kevin Peters feels the potential of the new Camaro is unlimited. "We were pleased with the car's first outing in Columbus but there is always room for improvement. This car has all the advantages built into it we just have to utilize them. Right now we're testing some new gear ratios in order to take advantage of the lightweight of this car," said Peters. "There's just so much potential here in so many areas that we need to slow down and take them on one at a time. It won't be hard to tell when we've made gains. You'll see it on the scoreboards," added Peters. Team driver, Tommy D'Aprile a.k.a. Tommy D. is scheduled to join the team Thursday night. Tommy D. will be afforded three qualifying attempts on Friday with one final shot at making the field on Saturday morning. Eliminations for the event will start Saturday afternoon.
