Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 6.857/0.00, Now #9; Best prior run: 4.413/0.00, Was #9

4:36 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 52 percent, barometer 29.17 inches, adjusted altitude 3,273 feet, track temperature 123 degrees.

Kalitta (or Grubnic in Kalitta's car) lost traction after about 100 feet. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.423, 660ft-4.430/104.24 mph.

5:36 p.m. This was a pretty-looking run, but there was a problem with the timing computer printouts and the only good numbers that came through for Bernstein's run were the 660-foot (3.192/264.49) and the 1,000-foot ET.
