Pro Modified Time Trial Notes, Session #5

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 5 time trials in Pro Modified at the NHRA, Indianapolis Test Session Day 1 listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 7.022/145.74, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.453/163.69, Was #2

6:11 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 51 percent, barometer 29.17 inches, adjusted altitude 3,117 feet, track temperature 113 degrees.
We are on the home stretch for today's testing, with the lanes scheduled to close at 8 p.m.
Apparently somebody is reading these notes...at least, they are sending me corrections. The stack of bills pictured on the side of Knowles' car is actually a stack of $10,000 notes, not just paltry $1,000 bills.

This was a good-looking (and apparently planned) half-pass. Mike Knowles' incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.659, 660ft-4.083/161.13 mph, 1,000ft-5.563.

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 6.827/151.26, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.703/161.79, Was #4

6:42 p.m. Troxel was in Roger Burgess' Camaro again for this run. Looked fine, no sign of trouble before the half-track shutoff. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.640, 660ft-4.007/167.99 mph, 1,000ft-5.424.

Left Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 9.898/86.59, Now #5; Best prior run: 7.603/121.75, Was #5

6:46 p.m. Commisso's car started to shak and skate about 200 feet out and he lifted. Raymond Commisso's incremental times: 60ft-0.994 sec., 330ft-2.867, 660ft-5.079/100.10 mph, 1,000ft-7.461.

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 6.055/200.56, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.044/239.27, Was #1

7:41 p.m. Rowe's last run of the day was another solid run, with an early shutoff. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.622, 660ft-3.924/191.54 mph, 1,000ft-5.026.

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 9.219/96.05, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.703/161.79, Was #4

7:51 p.m. Troxel finished the day in Burgess' Camaro with another tire-shaker, the car starting to shake and turn right about 300 feet out. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.749, 660ft-4.808/107.60 mph, 1,000ft-7.025.

Left Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 6.411/156.86, Now #2; No Prior Run

8:00 p.m. Commisso's last run of the day was a good one, with an early shutoff. Raymond Commisso's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.625, 660ft-3.944/186.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.141.
"Last Call" just went out over the PA system, the staging lanes close in 20 minutes.

8:20 p.m. What if you made a "Last Call" and nobody showed up? Well, you'd fold up your tent and go home. So we will. Good night. Tomorrow will be limited to fuel cars, at 1,000 feet.
