Pro Modified Time Trial Notes, Session #2

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 2 time trials in Pro Modified at the NHRA, Indianapolis Test Session Day 1 listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 6.569/135.09, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.130/191.70, Was #1

12:50 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 54 percent, barometer 29.24 inches, adjusted altitude 2,726 feet, track temperature 110 degrees.

Rowe's third shot was actually two. He launched, was not happy with the result (the car shook) and he backed up to try again. The second try had the best short numbers so far, and another early shutoff. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.970 sec., 330ft-2.603, 660ft-3.913/189.71 mph, 1,000ft-5.124.

1:21 p.m. Rowe is getting his money's worth, back for his fourth "hit." This one wasn't as smooth as the last, with tire shake fairly early in the run. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.825, 660ft-4.960/103.63 mph, 1,000ft-7.267.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 10.848/78.52, Now #3; Best prior run: 12.597/65.41, Was #4

2:15 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 81 degrees, relative humidity 48 percent, barometer 29.21 inches, adjusted altitude 2,915 feet, track temperature 123 degrees.

Knowles' second run produced a strong 60-foot time, but he shook early in the run, the front wheels in the air, and lifted. Mike Knowles' incremental times: 60ft-0.975 sec., 330ft-2.978, 660ft-5.441/089.52 mph, 1,000ft-8.136.

2:21 p.m. Rowe came back again, hot lapping his car today. He made a full pass this time, driving it out the back door. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.983 sec., 330ft-2.663, 660ft-3.986/188.41 mph, 1,000ft-5.103.

Left Lane: Joe Baker Runs 6.575/144.16, Now #2; Best prior run: 17.856/65.58, Was #5

2:36 p.m. Baker's run looked good up to half track, then he shut it off before 1,000 feet and may have nipped a few pistons at that point, with a puff of smoke as the chutes came out. Joe Baker's incremental times: 60ft-0.981 sec., 330ft-2.649, 660ft-3.978/187.57 mph, 1,000ft-5.195.

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 6.703/161.79, Now #3; Best prior run: 9.992/87.28, Was #3

2:43 p.m. THis time, Troxel was in her car, the "Voodoo" '63 Corvette. The run looked good to about half track, then she may have run into tire shake and clicked it off early. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.987 sec., 330ft-2.703, 660ft-4.062/179.44 mph, 1,000ft-5.389.

Looks like there's a break in the action, so this is the end of the unofficial second round.
