Pro Modified Time Trial Notes, Session #1

CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 1 time trials in Pro Modified at the NHRA, Indianapolis Test Session Day 1 listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 7.145/129.37, Now #1

10:45 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 64 percent, barometer 29.26 inchs, adjusted altitude 2,424 feet, track temperature 93 degrees.

Rowe was the first racer down the track today, with crew chief Jimmy Rector (and a bunch of other teams) watching closely. He left hard, made a move toward the wall at half track, and lifted. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.696, 660ft-4.110/159.93 mph, 1,000ft-5.594.

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 12.597/65.41, Now #2

11:04 a.m. Knowles was the second racer of the day (looks like a slow pace today) in his beautiful 'Blown Money" '63 Corvette, the one with a big picture of a $1,000-bill on the side. He shook and then lost traction. Mike Knowles' incremental times: 60ft-1.025 sec., 330ft-3.316, 660ft-6.199/076.42 mph, 1,000ft-9.377.

Left Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 11.701/72.85, Now #2

11:15 a.m. Commisso's car had a lot of suspension travel on the launch, the car porpoising, then shaking. Raymond Commisso's incremental times: 60ft-1.028 sec., 330ft-3.173, 660ft-5.862/082.07 mph, 1,000ft-8.784.

Left Lane: Joe Baker Runs 17.856/65.58, Now #4

11:24 a.m. Baker immediately lost traction, with violent tire shake. Joe Baker's incremental times: 60ft-1.616 sec., 330ft-7.687, 660ft-11.374/072.29 mph, 1,000ft-14.611.

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 6.130/191.70, Now #1

11:49 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 77 degrees, relative humidity 57 percent, barometer 29.24 inches, adjusted altitude 2,722 feet, track temperature 105 degrees.

Rowe's second run was much better, from start to where he lifted and put the chutes out at 1,000 feet. Danny Rowe's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.658, 660ft-3.970/190.46 mph, 1,000ft-5.078.

Left Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 9.992/87.28, Now #2

12:40 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 78 degrees, relative humidity 54 percent, barometer 29.24 inches, adjusted altitude 2,726 feet, track temperature 110 degrees.
Troxel is in Roger Burgess' car for this pass. She left hard, shook, and lifted. Melanie Troxel's incremental times: 60ft-0.963 sec., 330ft-2.843, 660ft-5.098/097.89 mph, 1,000ft-7.549.

Looks like Rowe is lined up for his third pass, so we'll wrap up the "first session" and post the notes.
