CLERMONT, Ind. - Notes from round 1 time trials in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA, Indianapolis Test Session Day 1 listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run: Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.117/186.18, Now #1 11:18 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 64 percent, barometer 29.26 inches, adjusted altitude 2,424 feet, track temperature 93 degrees. Johnson, who gets the "class move of the race award" for loaning an
engine to the guy who just bumped him out of tenth place, has been at the head of the lanes for about 45 minutes, apparently waiting
for a few cars to scrub in the fresh "glue" before making his run, made a full pass. It sounded like he may have had a bit more tire
spin than he wanted on the launch, the RPMs spiking a bit. Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.111 sec., 330ft-2.948,
660ft-4.526/154.67 mph, 1,000ft-5.917. Left Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.199/156.19, Now #2 11:29 a.m. Smith made a good-looking run. Unlike Johnson, he did not run it all the way to the stripe. Matt Smith's incremental times: 60ft-1.077 sec., 330ft-2.913, 660ft-4.475/156.55 mph, 1,000ft-5.857. Left Lane: Chip Ellis No Time, Now #3 11:56 a.m. Ellis came out and made a pass down the track, with an easy launch and no tree - most likely just a shakedown run since he hasn't been running NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle this year, but is entered for the 55th annual U.S. Nationals. Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.122/183.99, Now #1 12:23 p.m. Johnson's second run looked and sounded a little better on the launch and he shut it off before the stripe. Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.084 sec., 330ft-2.931, 660ft-4.512/153.77 mph, 1,000ft-5.911. 12:45 p.m. Folks are
