Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #2

BRAINERD, Minn. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 28th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Dave River Runs 7.124/191.97, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.156/191.67, Was #18

Weather conditions: air temperature 90 degrees, relative humidity 52 percent, barometer 28.53 inches, adjusted altitude 4,623 feet, track temperature 111 degrees.

River improves, but not enough to get into the show.

Left Lane: Mark Hogan Runs 6.910/197.54, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.952/195.39, Was #17
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.870/201.28, Now #16; No Prior Run

Hogan again make his career quickest and fastest pass here, but will not get into the show. Mark Hogan's incremental times: 60ft-1.043 sec., 330ft-2.896, 660ft-4.445/158.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.782. Morgan after having problems in round one...gets a time, but will not get into the show.

Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.849/201.70, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.868/201.40, Was #15
Right Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.886/200.71, Now #17; Best prior run: 6.920/199.35, Was #18

JOnes improves, but not enough to get in the show. Benza improves...

Left Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.796/202.42, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.839/201.70, Was #13
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.843/201.58, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.860/201.49, Was #15

Spiess gets into the top half of the show with a really nice pass. Steve Spiess' incremental times: 60ft-1.012 sec., 330ft-2.847, 660ft-4.373/158.17 mph, 1,000ft-5.684. Gaines improves, but not enough to get into the show.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.754/204.29, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.809/203.43, Was #9
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.798/203.28, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.831/202.61, Was #13

Krisher with the quickest pass of the round and he goes to the number two spot...Ron Krisher's incremental times: 60ft-1.002 sec., 330ft-2.825, 660ft-4.349/158.84 mph, 1,000ft-5.650. Stanfield with another good looking pass to get back into the show. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-1.015 sec., 330ft-2.846, 660ft-4.374/161.59 mph, 1,000ft-5.689.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.791/203.71, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.807/204.01, Was #10
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.809/203.34, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.829/202.82, Was #13

Coughlin gets into the top half of the show with a real nice pass...Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.023 sec., 330ft-2.850, 660ft-4.374/161.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.686. Johnson gets back into the show...Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.015 sec., 330ft-2.853, 660ft-4.384/161.32 mph, 1,000ft-5.700.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.781/203.16, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.806/203.49, Was #10
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.780/203.89, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.813/203.28, Was #13

This was a great drag race as these two both get into the top half of the show. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-1.013 sec., 330ft-2.836, 660ft-4.359/161.92 mph, 1,000ft-5.673.
Warren Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.009 sec., 330ft-2.840, 660ft-4.364/162.12 mph, 1,000ft-5.675.

Left Lane: Johnny Gray Runs 7.819/131.14, Now #12; Best prior run: 6.802/202.94, Was #11
Right Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.771/203.46, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.810/201.94, Was #13

Gray got out of the groove and pushed in the clutch and coasted on through the 1320....Deceglie with a great pass to get into the top half of the show. Vinnie Deceglie's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.818, 660ft-4.347/161.42 mph, 1,000ft-5.663. That bumps out K. Johnson.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.741/204.26, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.792/202.30, Was #9
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.742/204.01, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.754/203.83, Was #3

These two were side-by-side all the way down the track for the number two and three spots...Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.809, 660ft-4.328/162.29 mph, 1,000ft-5.637.
Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.815, 660ft-4.332/162.51 mph, 1,000ft-5.639.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.777/203.52, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.774/203.43, Was #6
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.733/204.94, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.732/204.70, Was #1

no help here for line and he stays in the number six spot. Edwards is just a tick slower than his afternoon run, but holds on to the number one spot. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-1.001 sec., 330ft-2.814, 660ft-4.330/163.04 mph, 1,000ft-5.634.

That wrap up day one qualifying with Johnny Gray on the bump spot at 6.802.
