BRAINERD, Minn. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 28th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 5.444/121.04, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 93 degrees, relative humidity 49 percent, barometer 28.53 inches, adjusted altitude 4,770 feet, track temperature 118 degrees.

Grubnic making his first appearance this year...the car starts dropping cylinders around 100 feet and then starts to smoke the tires around 250 feet and he clicks it off.

Left Lane: Tim Cullinan Runs 7.477/81.83, Now #3
Right Lane: Joe Hartley Runs 4.763/163.51, Now #1

Cullinan was dropping cylinders as soon as he hit the throttle. Hartley starts to smoke the tires around 300 feet and he clicks it off.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 5.727/113.35, Now #4
Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 5.135/137.39, Now #2

Millican starts to haze the tires around 300 feet and clicks it off...Kalitta is up in smoke just past the 330-foot mark.

Left Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 6.576/91.13, Now #6
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 4.111/245.40, Now #1

Lucas has a hole or two out as soon as he hits the throttle and clicks it off. Lucas is dropping cylinders on the top end, but still goes to the number one spot... Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.207, 660ft-3.201/247.38 mph.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 4.234/257.04, Now #3
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 4.004/298.01, Now #1

McClenathan with the first full pass and he goes to the number one spot. Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.851 sec., 330ft-2.222, 660ft-3.195/263.51 mph. By making this qualifying pass McClenthan secures his spot in the "Countdown to 1". Massey with a good pass in the heat of the day... Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.876 sec., 330ft-2.237, 660ft-3.298/228.34 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.088/286.80, Now #2
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 6.460/100.46, Now #9

Dixon is up in smoke around 250 feet...Bernstein dropped a cylinder right at the hit, but stayed with it to go to the number two spot. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.861 sec., 330ft-2.250, 660ft-3.251/255.05 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.062/277.60, Now #2
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 4.787/156.05, Now #7

Brown starts to loose traction around half track and clicks it off. Schumacher makes it to the top end under power to go to the number two spot. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.220, 660ft-3.200/253.52 mph. That wraps round one of qualifying with McClenathan leading the pack and Langdon is on the bump spot at 6.576.
