Auto Imagery and Division 3 photographer Bob Hesser, 46, passed away early today, April 7, following a sudden illness. Bob has been a familiar sight at NHRA North Central Division events for many years and he joined the elite crew of Auto Imagery photographers at NHRA national events a few years ago. Bob's energetic style made his photographic efforts stand out. He always seemed to be everywhere, seeking new and unusual vantage points for his work. Bob's eye for in-camera composition made his photos dramatic, even without cropping or other post-processing. Although we knew him best for his drag racing photography, Bob was also well known for his circle-track work, particulary sprint cars and midgets on the Midwest dirt tracks. He often said that a little dirt made your beverage of choice taste better. Motorsports photography was his trade, but Bob's true love was his family. He is survived by his wife Vicky, 15-year-old daughter Courtney, and sons Lonnie, 18, Robert, 22, and Lee, 23. We will miss Bob's photos, but even more, we will miss Bob's camaraderie and impish sense of humor. He made us laugh and we will miss him very much. The FastNews Network extends its condolences to Bob's wife and family and we share their grief at his passing.
