Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #3

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 25th annual Lucas Oil Slick Mist NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Steve Faria Runs 4.505/222.14, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Rob Passey No Time, Now #20; No Prior Run

Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 28 percent, barometer 28.87 inches, adjusted altitude 2,481 feet, track temperature 99 degrees.

Passey broke on the burnout...Faria with a lot of tire shake right off, but drove through it. Then right in the lights the engine let go with a huge fireball...


Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 4.167/279.79, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Del Cox Jr Runs 4.058/291.07, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.936/306.46, Was #12

Cox Jr. had a cylinder or two out right from the hit. Chrisman with his quickest pass of the weekend to get into the show for now.

Left Lane: Troy Buff Runs 3.974/283.97, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 10.749/68.07, Now #16; No Prior Run

Haddock with problems as soon as he hit the throttle, and just coasted on through the 1000 feet. Buff with his quickest pass of the weekend to get into the show. He had a lot engine smoke when he got off the throttle as he crossed the finish line. This is Buff's quickest and fastest pass of the new season. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.189, 660ft-3.137/260.31 mph.

Left Lane: Arley Langlo Runs 15.695/51.17, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.904/311.63, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.918/310.91, Was #11

McClenathan with his quickest pass of the weekend and he moves into the top half of the show for now. Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.195, 660ft-3.127/271.02 mph. Langlo with problems again and he does go past the Christmas tree under power as he dropped a bunch of cylinders.

Left Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 3.922/310.48, Now #12; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.907/311.13, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.914/307.65, Was #11

Millican with his quickest pass this weekend, and this season to move up the ladder a couple spots. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.871 sec., 330ft-2.202, 660ft-3.128/271.79 mph. Strasburg with his quickest and fastest pass of the season to get into the show. Mike Strasburg's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.221, 660ft-3.146/275.56 mph. that will bump out Haddock.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 5.563/140.05, Now #17; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Joe Hartley Runs 6.766/87.92, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.913/308.07, Was #11

Kalitta double step the throttle on the starting line and then had a lot dropped cylinders, and finally clicked it off and coasted on down the drag strip. The pomona winner will go into the final session of qualifying, not qualified. Hartley lost traction and clicked it early.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 9.241/80.78, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.875/308.07, Was #5
Right Lane: David Baca Runs 6.881/90.64, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.910/305.77, Was #10

Bernstein is up in smoke as soon as he hit the throttle, and clicked it off. Baca was up in smoke by 200 feet.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 10.828/72.93, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.847/310.27, Was #4
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.894/307.93, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.888/305.63, Was #7

Massey is up in smoke as soon as he hits the throttle. Langdon with a nice looking pass, it is his career fastest pass. Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.188, 660ft-3.117/274.66 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 7.646/79.16, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.840/315.27, Was #3
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 6.604/89.26, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.879/306.46, Was #6

Schumacher started to rattle the tires then went up in smoke 150 feet. Lucas was up in smoke by 300 feet and clicked it off.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.828/307.79, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.807/313.95, Was #1
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.873/305.36, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.830/313.80, Was #2

Just like yesterday the last two with a couple good looking pass and they were the two quickest of the session. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.145, 660ft-3.052/277.09 mph.
Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.169, 660ft-3.089/272.78 mph.
