Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #2

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 25th annual Lucas Oil Slick Mist NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Arley Langlo Runs 5.804/119.44, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Rob Passey No Time, Now #20; No Prior Run

Passey has problems on the burnout and the Safety crew sends him on. Langlo with a big fireball around 250 feet out.

Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.879/306.46, Now #5; Best prior run: 9.646/77.96, Was #19

Lucas with a real nice pass until right in the lights when it pushed out a head gasket. He moves up to the number five spot. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.850 sec., 330ft-2.184, 660ft-3.101/276.63 mph.

Left Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.875/308.07, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.641/117.78, Was #14
Right Lane: Shawn Langdon Runs 3.888/305.63, Now #7; Best prior run: 9.238/80.35, Was #19

This was a good looking drag race...Bernstein got real loose around 600 feet, and did a great job driving. These two go from outside the field to numbers five and seven. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.176, 660ft-3.094/273.88 mph.
Shawn Langdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.844 sec., 330ft-2.170, 660ft-3.104/270.92 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.058/264.70, Now #11; Best prior run: 4.732/155.15, Was #14
Right Lane: Joe Hartley Runs 3.913/308.07, Now #8; Best prior run: 8.508/88.50, Was #19

Kalitta's engine let go around 600 feet with a quick big fireball. Hartley with a good looking pass...Joe Hartley's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.194, 660ft-3.129/270.00 mph.

Left Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 5.414/115.70, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.555/187.39, Was #15
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.914/307.65, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.345/95.06, Was #18

Strasburg started to lose traction and then the engine let go with a big fireball. The new safety device that deploys the chutes and shuts off the fuel work just like it was suppose to work. Millican with a real nice pass to get into the show. Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.196, 660ft-3.129/269.78 mph.

Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 14.899/52.49, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.214/277.83, Was #15
Right Lane: David Baca Runs 3.910/305.77, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.153/137.37, Was #17

Chrisman lost traction right off the starting line and clicked it off. Baca with a good clean pass to get into the show...David Baca's incremental times: 60ft-0.878 sec., 330ft-2.190, 660ft-3.120/268.71 mph.

Left Lane: Troy Buff Runs 7.386/97.52, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.137/222.33, Was #15
Right Lane: Terry Haddock Runs 6.578/96.94, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.119/287.78, Was #14

Buff's engine let go with a quick fire and he clicked it off and coasted on through the 1000 feet. Haddock started to lose traction then had sparks out from underneath the car.

Left Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 3.847/310.27, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.857/309.34, Was #3
Right Lane: Del Cox Jr Runs 7.556/86.40, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.936/306.46, Was #12

Cox Jr. was off the throttle by 300 feet. Massey with a great looking pass, another career best pass here. to move up the ladder one spot. Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.159, 660ft-3.072/275.79 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.840/315.27, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.849/314.39, Was #3
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 4.268/210.90, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.918/310.91, Was #11

McClenathan was on good looking pass until about half track when the engine went silent. Schumacher with a great looking pass to go to the number one spot. His quickest and fastest pass of the season. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.860 sec., 330ft-2.171, 660ft-3.075/278.40 mph.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.807/313.95, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.843/313.95, Was #2
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.830/313.80, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.863/310.55, Was #4

Brown with a real nice looking pass to go to the number two spot, right behind Dixon who goes back into the number one spot. Dixon with his career best E.T. pass here. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.843 sec., 330ft-2.150, 660ft-3.043/281.71 mph.
Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.845 sec., 330ft-2.146, 660ft-3.060/275.00 mph.
