Off-season Meeting Provides Insight and Ideas for 2009 PMRA Season
|
HAMILTON, ONTARIO -- Team owners, drivers, car builders, officials and members of the Pro Modified Racing Association
met recently to discuss issues and prepare for the upcoming 2009 racing season.
Chaired by PMRA Director of Operations Bruce Mehlenbacher, several items were addressed by the
group, including team membership, safety, the points structure, payouts, qualifying procedures, and
track venues.
The PMRA will be entering its fifth season of competition in 2009, and Mehlenbacher has already
confirmed race dates at Cayuga Dragway for at least two events, along with Grand Bend Motorplex,
St. Thomas Dragway for two-day races. He mentioned he is working with tracks in Michigan, New York,
Ohio and Pennsylvania as well as Quebec with the plan of presenting a seven event PMRA Drag Racing
Series for 2009.
Other topics included emergency procedures and personnel and track preparation.
The mood of the meeting was upbeat and positive with most in attendance offering suggestions and
ideas. It was decided that the group would reassemble in the New Year after the confirmation of
more race dates.
