DINWIDDIE, Va. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Third annual Virginia NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 6.225/96.64, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 52 percent, barometer 29.95 inches, adjusted altitude 1,739 feet, track temperature 94 degrees.

Vandergriff is up in smoke early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.964/297.02, Now #1
Right Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.976/298.34, Now #2

A nice side-by-side pass by the teammates to start the weekend. Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.853 sec., 330ft-2.199, 660ft-3.152/264.18 mph.
J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.197, 660ft-3.164/262.23 mph.

Right Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 8.267/80.51, Now #5

Kalitta was real aggressive right off the starting line and overpowered the track. Grubnic lost traction early and clicked it off.

Will carrying the Palm Beach International Raceway colors for the rest of the year. Will with a great looking pass with a career best to go to the number one spot. Hillary Will's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.144, 660ft-3.049/278.06 mph. Bernstein with a real nice pass...Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.846 sec., 330ft-2.152, 660ft-3.074/273.16 mph.

Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.823/308.57, Now #2

Brown with a great looking pass and ties Will's E.T. for the number one spot, but will give up the number one spot on mph. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.836 sec., 330ft-2.133, 660ft-3.045/276.29 mph. Dixon with a real nice pass and ties Bernstein's E.T. for the number three spot, but goes to the number based on the mph. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.838 sec., 330ft-2.158, 660ft-3.073/273.83 mph.
