Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 21st annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals presented by Pennzoil listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 3.968/303.43, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.648/86.79, Was #15
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 4.001/291.38, Now #14; Best prior run: 8.992/82.12, Was #16

Weather conditions: air temperature 83 degrees, relative humidity 37 percent, barometer 29.67 inches, adjusted altitude 2,468 feet, track temperature 114 degrees.

A couple clean runs for these two to start the session. They both move up the ladder to 13 and 14. J.R. Todd's incremental times: 60ft-0.859 sec., 330ft-2.210, 660ft-3.170/266.32 mph.
Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.212, 660ft-3.178/261.32 mph.


Left Lane: T.J. Zizzo Runs 3.972/299.20, Now #14; Best prior run: 6.488/95.82, Was #16
Right Lane: Pat Dakin Runs 4.069/287.66, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.094/294.05, Was #15

Dakin got out of the groove and real close to the centerline, but he reeled it in. He will finish on the bump. Zizzo with his quickest pass of the weekend and moves up to the No. 14 spot.

Left Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 3.939/300.53, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.909/292.96, Was #11
Right Lane: Clay Millican Runs 3.967/299.86, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.911/307.58, Was #12

A couple good looking passes, but neither driver improves. Rod Fuller's incremental times: 60ft-0.856 sec., 330ft-2.190, 660ft-3.137/265.74 mph.
Clay Millican's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.204, 660ft-3.161/263.77 mph.

Left Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.936/296.76, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.873/310.13, Was #10
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.913/308.43, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.871/310.05, Was #9

A couple good passes here in the heat of the day, but they do not improve on yesterday's times.

Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.005/240.68, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.861/312.13, Was #7
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.935/301.00, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.865/308.50, Was #8

Vandergriff pitched the blower belt around 800 feet, and he will stay in the number seven spot. Dixon is second quick of the session and he will race Brown tomorrow. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.852 sec., 330ft-2.195, 660ft-3.136/268.60 mph.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.877/310.84, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.859/305.29, Was #6
Right Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 11.107/74.28, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.853/311.49, Was #5

Herbert's deal was weird it was like he double clutched it...not really sure what happened, but he coasted on through the 1000 feet. Schumacher with the quickest pass of the session, but he will stay No. 6 and will face Fuller in round one for the second week in a row. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.841 sec., 330ft-2.168, 660ft-3.098/273.22 mph.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 3.925/303.91, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.838/311.20, Was #3
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 4.111/221.42, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.848/311.13, Was #4

Grubnic started to haze the tires on the top end and clicked it early. Kalitta with the third quickest pass of the session. Doug Kalitta's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.194, 660ft-3.134/270.81 mph.

Left Lane: Hillary Will Runs 4.004/253.14, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.826/313.66, Was #2
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 3.910/303.43, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.825/313.88, Was #1

Will started to haze the tires around 700 feet and she clicked it off. Bernstein with another good looking pass. He holds on to the number one spot for the 13th time in his career, and second time this year. This run will probably wrap up the Full Throttle award for this weekend. Brandon Bernstein's incremental times: 60ft-0.847 sec., 330ft-2.174, 660ft-3.114/268.76 mph.
