CONCORD, N.C. - Results of round 1 eliminations in Pro Stock at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Inaugural NHRA Carolinas Nationals:

This is the first time Johnson and Spiess have faced each other in eliminations. Spiess has qualified for the last three races. Johnson with a slight starting line advantage, but Spiess chases him down by 300 feet and this is one of the big upsets of round one. Spiess will give up lane choice to Gaines in round two.
