Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Final Session

CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from final, round 4 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Inaugural NHRA Carolinas Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Tim Boychuk Runs 4.056/286.74, Now #17; Best prior run: 4.110/247.57, Was #17

Weather conditions: air temperature 91 degrees, relative humidity 50 percent, barometer 29.31 inches, adjusted altitude 3,730 feet, track temperature 124 degrees.

Boychuk with his best pass of the weekend, and just comes up a little short.


Left Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 3.894/309.42, Now #12; Best prior run: 4.022/299.53, Was #16
Right Lane: Doug Foley Runs 4.859/150.92, Now #16; Best prior run: 3.975/302.55, Was #15

Lucas with his best pass of the weekend and he gets off the bubble...Morgan Lucas' incremental times: 60ft-0.854 sec., 330ft-2.179, 660ft-3.112/273.61mph. Foley loses traction early and clicks it off.

Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 6.184/102.23, Now #15; Best prior run: 3.931/305.77, Was #15
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 5.561/119.74, Now #14; Best prior run: 3.923/303.50, Was #14

Jeremy Mayfield is on the starting line here with Millican. Millican goes up in smoke first and then Buff follows.

Left Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 3.942/307.93, Now #11; Best prior run: 3.889/304.60, Was #11
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 6.248/98.86, Now #13; Best prior run: 3.898/306.95, Was #13

Vandergriff is up in smoke and clicks it off. Fuller with a good clean pass in the heat of the day preparing for eliminations...Rod Fuller's incremental times: 60ft-0.867 sec., 330ft-2.212, 660ft-3.154/269.78mph.

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.029/298.47, Now #10; Best prior run: 3.883/312.93, Was #10
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 3.931/309.98, Now #8; Best prior run: 3.876/311.92, Was #8

Grubnic with a clean pass, but will not improve...David Grubnic's incremental times: 60ft-0.865 sec., 330ft-2.210, 660ft-3.147/272.12mph. Todd with a clean pass.

Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 3.880/310.91, Now #9; Best prior run: 3.879/306.19, Was #9
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 5.959/110.55, Now #7; Best prior run: 3.875/309.49, Was #7

Bernstein is up in smoke early and clicks it off. Schumacher with the quickest pass of this session, but he will stay No. 9. Tony Schumacher's incremental times: 60ft-0.857 sec., 330ft-2.175, 660ft-3.101/274.11mph. He will face off against Grubnic in round one.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.930/147.89, Now #6; Best prior run: 3.872/309.77, Was #6
Right Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 4.796/163.45, Now #5; Best prior run: 3.870/311.49, Was #5

Kalitta was up in smoke early and clicked it off. Herbert lost traction and he too clicked it off.

Left Lane: Hillary Will Runs 3.928/310.05, Now #4; Best prior run: 3.869/315.12, Was #4
Right Lane: Antron Brown Runs 3.943/309.91, Now #3; Best prior run: 3.865/311.20, Was #3

Will with another good looking pass...Hillary Will's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.205, 660ft-3.144/270.75mph. Brown with a good pass to go into eliminations with tomorrow. Antron Brown's incremental times: 60ft-0.862 sec., 330ft-2.203, 660ft-3.155/268.92mph.

Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 3.897/309.70, Now #1; Best prior run: 3.846/310.20, Was #1
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.908/310.70, Now #2; Best prior run: 3.863/312.13, Was #2

This is great side-by-side drag race to wrap up Top Fuel qualifying. These two have been consistent all weekend. Dixon will hold on to the number one qualifying spot for the 30th time in his career and for the second race in a row. Larry Dixon's incremental times: 60ft-0.863 sec., 330ft-2.192, 660ft-3.117/274.78mph.
Cory McClenathan's incremental times: 60ft-0.864 sec., 330ft-2.199, 660ft-3.128/273.39mph.
