CONCORD, N.C. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Inaugural NHRA Carolinas Nationals listing lane, rider name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Valerie Thompson Runs 7.220/184.07, Now #1
Right Lane: Darin McCurdy Runs 7.397/167.41, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 64 percent, barometer 29.47 inches, adjusted altitude 2,975 feet, track temperature 118 degrees.

2:38 p.m. The sun has burned off most of the clouds from earlier, the temperature is rising and it is becoming more and more humid here at zMax Dragway.

Both leave the line nicely, Thompson has more horsepower as she she gets to the finish-line first. Thompson sets her career best speed on this run. McCurdy was a bit slow at the top end. Valerie Thompson's incremental times: 60ft-1.109 sec., 330ft-2.986, 660ft-4.590/152.42mph, 1,000ft-6.005

Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.246/186.02, Now #3
Right Lane: Wes Wells Runs 7.182/187.44, Now #1

Wells makes a very nice run to start his weekend off, DeSantis also with a nice run. Wells will go to the top spot for the moment.

Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.322/181.11, Now #4

McBride looked good after the launch, but she was fighting the bike as it made its way down track, and she lifted. Gann makes a nice opening run to start his weekend off. Shawn Gann's incremental times: 60ft-1.114 sec., 330ft-3.016, 660ft-4.646/149.70mph, 1,000ft-6.087

Left Lane: Junior Pippin Runs 7.114/184.27, Now #1
Right Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.157/189.73, Now #2

Pippin drifts towards the centerline but is able to pull the motorcycle back away from the centerline. Arana makes a very good looking pass as he moves into the 2nd spot. Junior Pippin's incremental times: 60ft-1.081 sec., 330ft-2.919, 660ft-4.502/154.30mph, 1,000ft-5.900

Right Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.044/191.02, Now #1

This was a great side-by-side run. Treble got there first and he will go to the top spot. Stoffer makes a very nice run to start her weekend off. Karen Stoffer's incremental times: 60ft-1.109 sec., 330ft-2.973, 660ft-4.539/157.01mph, 1,000ft-5.906

Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 6.981/192.30, Now #1

As we continue with Pro Stock Motorcycle each pair is getting quicker as it usually does. That is what happens with this pair. Krawiec goes to #1 by a bunch. Johnson no slouch either as he slides into the 2nd spot with his first pass here at zMax Dragway. Steve Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-1.114 sec., 330ft-2.952, 660ft-4.504/157.96mph, 1,000ft-5.866

Right Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 6.968/191.19, Now #1

Guidera makes a very good looking run to kick start his weekend. Rivas though makes the quickest run of the session so far and his Buell goes to the #1 spot for now. Matt Guidera's incremental times: 60ft-1.075 sec., 330ft-2.924, 660ft-4.502/155.17mph, 1,000ft-5.895

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.123/187.26, Now #9
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.036/191.19, Now #4

Sampey is little slow early, and her motorcycle never really recovered. Ellis had good low numbers and he will make it to the 4th spot at this point in the session. Angelle Sampey's incremental times: 60ft-1.136 sec., 330ft-2.989, 660ft-4.554/156.66mph, 1,000ft-5.932

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.007/191.24, Now #4
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 6.952/192.08, Now #1

Smith makes a great pass and was able to keep it straight, he will go to the top spot. Hines was right behind him and he goes to the 4th spot on the ladder for now. We end this session with Smith on top and Shawn Gann on the bump.
