NORWALK, Ohio - 5:15 p.m. - Jeepers, creepers, we got weepers." Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park has received over a foot of rain in the past week and the ground is saturated. As temperatures neared 90 degrees today, water started percolating up through the surface in the shutdown area, bringing racing to a halt at 4 p.m., just as the first qualifying session for Pro Stock cars got under way. The Safety Safari has been working to get the excess water removed and the shutdown area dry for over an hour now. They have narrowed the area of interest to a couple hundred feet in the right lane, but a "15 minute" estimate for completion came and went about half an hour ago. Competitors in Pro Stock and Funny Car are lined up to run, but nobody really has a good estimate how much longer they will have to wait. Stay tuned, we'll let you know when the situation changes.
