ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - 7 p.m. - NHRA just released the following update to their earlier release, confirming what all here at the track suspected, but hoped was wrong:

"Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta, 46, was transported to Old Bridge Township Hospital where he was pronounced dead from multiple injuries suffered after his car went out of control and crashed in the fourth and final round of qualifying Saturday at the Lucas Oil NHRA SuperNationals."
