Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying Notes, Final Session

JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top Alcohol Dragster at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 11th annual Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Ray Hack Runs 6.274/239.27, Now #31; Best prior run: 6.395/238.98, Was #31
Right Lane: Brian Mans Runs 5.820/252.57, Now #29; Best prior run: 6.130/188.44, Was #30

Weather conditions: air temperature 76 degrees, relative humidity 79 percent, barometer 29.28 inches, adjusted altitude 2,759 feet, track temperature 87 degrees.

both cars with their best passes of the weekend, but not near enough to get into the show... Justin Davis is on the bump spot at 5.501.

Left Lane: Jeff Veale Runs 5.523/247.25, Now #20; Best prior run: 5.832/237.96, Was #30
Right Lane: Robin Samsel Runs 5.925/244.07, Now #29; Best prior run: 5.741/243.28, Was #28

Veale with his best pass and moved up 10 spots, but doesn't get into the show. Samsel was dropping cylinders right at the hit.

Left Lane: Courtney Force Runs 6.168/223.58, Now #28; Best prior run: 5.724/245.27, Was #28
Right Lane: Dave Hirata Runs 5.556/254.09, Now #25; Best prior run: 5.661/251.25, Was #27

Forces was smoking the tires early and then dropping cylinders. Hirata with his quickest pass this weekend, but not quick enough to get in the show.

Left Lane: Ken Perry Runs 5.527/257.63, Now #21; Best prior run: 5.545/255.68, Was #22
Right Lane: Jared Dreher Runs 5.734/232.19, Now #27; Best prior run: 5.642/245.85, Was #25

Perry makes a decent run, his quickest of the weekend, but he doesn't make the show. No problems for Dreher, just not quick enough to break into the field.

Left Lane: Rich McPhillips Runs 5.587/246.26, Now #23; Best prior run: 5.542/257.14, Was #23
Right Lane: Todd Datweiler Runs 5.574/248.66, Now #24; Best prior run: 5.549/251.30, Was #24

Datweiler had a hole out on the right side all the way through the run.

Left Lane: Tim Bowgren Runs 20.338/49.25, Now #22; Best prior run: 5.533/255.68, Was #22
Right Lane: Justin Davis Runs 5.505/258.32, Now #16; Best prior run: 5.501/258.07, Was #16

Bowgren blows the tires off at the hit. Davis is on the bump.....and he stays there.

Left Lane: Dana Stripe Runs 14.673/63.28, Now #18; Best prior run: 5.507/257.33, Was #18
Right Lane: Darryl Hitchman Runs 16.093/55.59, Now #15; Best prior run: 5.493/258.27, Was #15

Both drivers have severe tire shake at the hit, both click it off 100 feet out.

Left Lane: Brandon Lewis Runs 5.527/259.16, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.453/258.27, Was #12
Right Lane: Randy Meyer Runs 5.426/253.14, Now #8; Best prior run: 5.478/258.86, Was #13

Meyer shook the tires of the line, moved around a little early in the run, but drove through it for a decent pass.

Left Lane: Jeff Bohr Runs 5.999/190.24, Now #11; Best prior run: 5.441/265.27, Was #11
Right Lane: Noah Condo Runs 5.517/261.22, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.420/263.77, Was #7

Bohr has problems late in the run and clicks it off. Condo makes another good run.

Left Lane: Bill Reichert Runs 5.530/269.24, Now #6; Best prior run: 5.404/264.18, Was #6
Right Lane: Aaron Tatum Runs 17.746/66.40, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.361/269.46, Was #4

Tatum goes up in smoke at the hit and clicks it off. Reichert shakes the tires early, pedals once, then drifts close to the wall, but never backs off the throttle.

Left Lane: Jim Whiteley Runs 5.329/267.16, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.385/267.53, Was #5
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 5.337/268.33, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.327/269.73, Was #2

Whiteley makes a big improvement but doesn't move up in the order. Lucas makes another good run.

Left Lane: Shawn Cowie Runs 5.333/268.54, Now #4; Best prior run: 5.343/268.54, Was #4
Right Lane: Duane Shields Runs 5.511/270.43, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.295/260.46, Was #1

Shields rattles the tires off the line, pedals once, then goes on through with a decent pass. No problems for Cowie, right down the groove with another good run.

Left Lane: Arthur Allen No Time, Now #32; Best prior run: 6.902/135.32, Was #32
Right Lane: John Finke Runs 5.660/251.72, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.427/257.87, Was #8

This is the first pair of the Allstars and Allen was able to make the call because he broke a rearend.

Left Lane: Cody Perkins Runs 5.784/245.90, Now #26; Best prior run: 5.609/219.69, Was #26
Right Lane: Marty Thacker Runs 5.492/258.17, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.433/265.69, Was #10

Left Lane: Brandon Pierce Runs 5.471/269.73, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.452/269.83, Was #12
Right Lane: Richard Putz Runs 5.447/260.66, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.508/259.76, Was #19

Putz gets into the show and that will bump out Davis. Richard Putz's incremental times: 60ft-0.941 sec., 330ft-2.404, 660ft-3.572/210.87mph, 1,000ft-4.583

Left Lane: Thomas Bayer Runs 5.444/260.81, Now #13; Best prior run: 5.505/258.07, Was #18
Right Lane: Spencer Massey Runs 5.405/274.78, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.492/271.57, Was #15

Bayer with his best pass of the weekend to get into the show and that will bump out Hitchman. Thomas Bayer's incremental times: 60ft-0.916 sec., 330ft-2.387, 660ft-3.566/209.98mph, 1,000ft-4.581 Massey moves into the top half of the show...Spencer Massey's incremental times: 60ft-0.961 sec., 330ft-2.510, 660ft-3.648/222.51mph, 1,000ft-4.594
