Top Fuel Qualifying Notes, Session #1

JOLIET, Ill. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Top Fuel at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 11th annual Torco Racing Fuels Route 66 NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Luigi Novelli Runs 11.720/91.82, Now #2
Right Lane: Troy Buff Runs 4.673/307.09, Now #1

Novelli was up in smoke as son as he hit the throttle. Buff launched hard and keep it hooked up all the way down the 1320. Troy Buff's incremental times: 60ft-0.875 sec., 330ft-2.211, 660ft-3.158/265.74mph, 1,000ft-3.963

Left Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 4.571/319.14, Now #1
Right Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 9.779/79.61, Now #3

Vandergriff lost traction early and clicked it off. Bradshaw with a great looking pass...straight down the groove. Alan Bradshaw's incremental times: 60ft-0.855 sec., 330ft-2.188, 660ft-3.107/274.39mph, 1,000ft-3.884

Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 5.239/189.92, Now #3
Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 8.686/96.50, Now #4

Lucas was up in smoke by 150 feet and clicked it off. Todd starting to lose traction ande clicked it off.

Left Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 6.100/152.88, Now #4
Right Lane: David Grubnic Runs 9.688/91.35, Now #6

Grubnic is up in smoke right off the starting line and then Grubnic was up in smoke.

Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.748/271.08, Now #3
Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 9.447/84.87, Now #7

Bernstein was up in smoke by 250 feet and clicked it off. Kalitta was on a good pass until about 800 feet when it start to spin the tires and then drop cylinders.

Left Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 8.961/79.39, Now #7
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 9.314/85.28, Now #8

Both cars are up in smoke right off the starting line.

Left Lane: Hillary Will Runs 4.622/324.28, Now #2
Right Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 6.778/119.86, Now #7

Dixon was up in smoke by 330 feet and clicked it off. Will was able to get it hook up all the way down the 1320...Hillary Will's incremental times: 60ft-0.886 sec., 330ft-2.217, 660ft-3.151/269.03mph, 1,000ft-3.939

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 13.021/75.98, Now #16
Right Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 8.927/77.75, Now #9

Brown was up in smoke right off the starting line and clicked it off. Schumacher was up in smoke by 250 feet and clicked it off.
