BRISTOL, Tenn. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Modified at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, Eighth annual O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Q listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Mike Knowles Runs 6.690/222.95, Now #2
Right Lane: Brad Personett Runs 6.257/235.72, Now #1

2:28 p.m.

Left Lane: Shelly Payne Runs 6.088/236.22, Now #1
Right Lane: Tim Tindle Runs 6.170/231.16, Now #2

Payne goes right down the groove to take the early pole. Tindle makes a clean run.

Left Lane: Rick Stivers Runs 6.104/233.96, Now #2
Right Lane: Taylor Lastor Runs 6.423/215.75, Now #5

Left Lane: Steve Engel Runs 6.394/236.01, Now #6
Right Lane: Harold Laird Runs 6.084/233.84, Now #1

Left Lane: Mike Ashley Runs 6.065/239.53, Now #1

Ashley goes right down the groove to take the pole for now.

Burgess ges out of shape right off the line, makes a move toward the center-line, then backs off the throttle.

Left Lane: Kirk Kuhns Runs 6.106/233.80, Now #6
Right Lane: Raymond Commisso Runs 6.117/242.02, Now #8

Left Lane: Jay Payne Runs 10.381/83.54, Now #15
Right Lane: Joshua Hernandez Runs 6.048/238.98, Now #1

Payne rattles the tires off the line and clicks it off about 300 feet out. Hernandez goes right down the groove and takes the pole for now.

Left Lane: Danny Rowe Runs 6.020/238.98, Now #1
Right Lane: Eddie Ware Runs 6.151/233.16, Now #11

A great pass for Rowe, no wasted motion, and he takes the pole for now.

Left Lane: Joe Baker Runs 6.097/234.86, Now #7
Right Lane: Tony Pontieri Runs 6.148/234.86, Now #12

A couple of clean runs to end the session. Rowe is on top with a 6.02 and Engel is on the bump with a 6.394.
