Marx Motorsports to Field Corvette in Extremely Competitive AMS ProMod

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Three time NHRA World Champion Brad Personett has formed a partnership with his former teammate Ed Marx to race a '53 Nostalgia Purple ProMod Corvette in the exciting AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod series run at NHRA Powerade events in 2008. Brad is the 3 time NHRA World Champion in the Pro Rear Wheel drive class driving the Titan Motorsports Scions.

Ed Marx is also an NHRA National Event winner and has campaigned for many years in the Alcohol Funny Car classes as well as crewing on Fuel Funny cars and Pro Stockers. Ed contends this is a little of a flyer stepping into a class with so many good running cars and well funded teams. Nevertheless, the team is confident their experience and unique combination can be competitive in the series. Team owner Ed Marx advised that the team has several solid performance partners and is looking for a Major Sponsor. The turbo combination has shown limited success. We don't expect to re-write the record book, but we will have two turbos and over 300 more cubes than we ran in the Pro Mod type straight 6 cylinder Toyota Scions. Brad ran solid 7.40's at 220 with that combination.

Brad and Ed plan to do the engine assembly and full car preparation along with driving the transporter to all the events. Brad and Ed plan to keep it simple. While the class is filled with some weird and wonderful alien-looking race cars that some deem Pro-Stockers on Steroids or Funny Cars with doors. The Marx team is going to dance with the gal that brought them. Brad has had significant success (wining 21 national Events in 4 years) with the Turbo Combination. They are going to run the durable Alcohol Funny car Hemi engine with Precision turbos and engine management by Big Stuff 3. They plan to shift the power to the ground via a Lenco racing planetary transmission and will continue to depend on Red Line Synthetic Oil for lubrication. Other partners include Arias pistons, GRP rods, Fidanza Flywheels, Ferrea racing valves.
