POMONA, Calif. -- Special awards from the 43rd annual Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals.

Skoal Showdown award ($4,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Funny Car) - Jeff Arend, San Dimas, Calif. Checker, Schuck's, Kragen Chevrolet Impala SS, 4.781 seconds, 324.90 mph.

K&N Filters Horsepower Challenge award ($3,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock) - Dave Connolly, Elyria, Ohio, Torco/Seelye Wright Chevrolet Cobalt, 6.648 seconds, 208.01 mph.

Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle award ($1,000 to the No. 1 qualifier in Pro Stock Motorcycle) - Andrew Hines, Brownsburg, Ind., 6.956 seconds, 192.22 mph.

Motel 6 "Who Got the Light" award ($1,000 to the individual Top Fuel, Funny Car, or Pro Stock driver who earns an elimination round win by the narrowest margin.) - Mike Ashley defeated Jack Beckman by a .0020-second margin of victory in the quarterfinal round of Funny Car eliminations.

Strange Engineering "Perfectly Strange" performance award ($250 bonus to the first racer in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street who wins an elimination round by running dead-on their dial-in or index) - Gregg Luneack in Super Stock, Nick Ariotti in Stock, Shannon Chennault in Super Comp, and Andy Boen in Super Gas.

Brut "Essence of Racing" award ($1,000 to the Sportsman-level participant that best exemplifies the Brut spirit of racing) Top Alcohol Dragster racer Joey Severance of Spanaway, Wash.

Hedman Hedders Best Engineered Vehicle ($1,000 to the best engineered vehicle) - Chapman Chevrolet/DDRC/Eaton Chevrolet Corvette Super Gas entry. Driver: Jerry Calton, Gilbert, Ariz.

NHRA Best Appearing Crew - NLA DLS Chevrolet Funny Car entry. Driver: James Day, Mission Viejo, Calif.

NHRA Best Appearing Car - Wayne & Daves Automotive Chevrolet Lumina Super Gas entry. Driver: Wayne Newman, Lancaster, Calif.

Full Throttle Pit Crew Championship ($3,000 each to Top Fuel and Funny Car's top crew, $1,500 to Pro Stock's top crew, and $750 to Pro Stock Motorcycle's top crew) Driver/crew chief:
Top Fuel: Brandon Bernstein/Tim & Kim Richards Budweiser dragster crew
Funny Car: Tim Wilkerson/Tim Wilkerson Levi, Ray, and Shoup Chevrolet Impala SS crew
