Not much luck
for Erbacher in the first round, going up in smoke at the hit and clicking it off. No problem here,
right down the groove, header flames high and steady all the way through the run. He gets in the
show in the fifth spot for now, bumping out Passey. Tony Schumacher is on the bump spot at
5.307. Left Lane: Steven Chrisman Runs 5.046/255.82, Now #17; Best prior run: 8.424/99.98, Was #20 Right Lane: Rod Fuller Runs 4.558/320.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 11.942/75.64, Was #23 Fuller had a good .861 60 foot time and kept the candles lit all the way through to move into the second spot. Chrisman has problems late in the run. Left Lane: Alan Bradshaw Runs 5.460/174.14, Now #20; Best prior run: 6.588/122.92, Was #21 Right Lane: Hillary Will Runs 4.643/323.43, Now #11; Best prior run: 10.915/77.99, Was #23 No problems for Will this run, right down the groove, and she gets in the show in the 11th spot. Bradshaw was right with Will until half-track, then he has problems and aborts the run. Mike Strasburg is on the bump spot at 4.766. Left Lane: Rob Passey Runs 5.308/209.23, Now #21; Best prior run: 5.704/170.36, Was #21 Right Lane: Morgan Lucas Runs 4.562/325.06, Now #4; Best prior run: 9.632/93.02, Was #23 Passey was on a good run, then started mixing up cylinders about 700 feet out. Lucas goes right down the groove, then makes a little move just as he goes through the lights. Clay Millican is on the bump spot at 4.711. Left Lane: Tony Schumacher Runs 4.482/327.59, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.307/199.79, Was #20 Right Lane: Doug Herbert Runs 4.600/318.54, Now #10; Best prior run: 5.721/187.86, Was #23 Schumacher isn't in....make that wasn't in. He leaves the line, drifts to the right, then back into the groove. The header flames were high and steady all the way through the run and he moves all the way to the top spot. Herbert makes a decent pass and gets in the show in the tenth spot. Doug Kalitta is on the bump spot at 4.658. Left Lane: Clay Millican Runs 4.647/318.02, Now #15; Best prior run: 4.711/318.32, Was #18 Right Lane: Scotty Cannon Runs 4.650/287.23, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.815/243.19, Was #20 Millican drifts a little to the right at the hit, gets to half-track, then pulls it back into the groove. He gets in the show in the 15th spot, Cannon in on the bump. Left Lane: Bob Vandergriff Runs 4.555/316.23, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.671/313.07, Was #19 Right Lane: Mike Strasburg Runs 4.669/316.82, Now #20; Best prior run: 4.766/307.37, Was #20 Vandergriff makes a hard move toward the centerline, getting very close to the half-track cone, but he's able to keep it under control and moves all the way to the third spot. Strasburg makes a decent run but stays in the 20th spot. Clay Millican is on the bump spot at 4.647. Left Lane: Doug Kalitta Runs 4.562/326.79, Now #6; Best prior run: 4.658/314.68, Was #19 Right Lane: Joe Hartley Runs 4.644/320.20, Now #14; Best prior run: 4.627/309.42, Was #13 Kalitta makes a big improvement on this pass and gets in the show. Hartley makes another good run but drops a notch as Kalitta goes around him. Hillary Will is on the bump spot at 4.643. Left Lane: David Grubnic Runs 10.176/84.08, Now #19; Best prior run: 4.651/308.21, Was #19 Right Lane: Melanie Troxel Runs 4.558/331.53, Now #4; Best prior run: 4.614/329.02, Was #13 Grubnic gets about 200 feet out and goes up in smoke. Troxel improves and gets in the top half of the field. She ties Fuller but moves ahead with the faster MPH. Left Lane: J.R. Todd Runs 4.550/325.30, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.629/311.41, Was #15 Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 5.843/147.63, Now #10; Best prior run: 4.577/326.56, Was #9 McClenethan spins the tires a little, then lifts the blower off the engine at half-track. No problems for Todd, right down the groove, and he moves all the way to the third spot. We'll be down for a cleanup. Left Lane: Doug Foley Runs 4.604/321.12, Now #13; Best prior run: 4.597/324.05, Was #13 Right Lane: Brandon Bernstein Runs 4.564/320.28, Now #7; Best prior run: 4.561/328.78, Was #7 Bernstein makes a great pass, just a little behind Schumacher's run at every incremental, then it looks like he spins the tires a little at half-track where the clean-up took place. Foley makes a clean run but doesn't improve. Left Lane: Larry Dixon Runs 4.534/321.42, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.578/320.66, Was #11 Right Lane: David Baca Runs 4.547/304.46, Now #2; Best prior run: 4.532/326.79, Was #2 Dixon makes a clean, stright pass, right down the groove, and he moves all the way to the third spot. Baca makes another consistent pass and stays in the second spot.
