By Larry Sullivan

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - Results of round 2 eliminations in Torco Pro Modified at the 2007 Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series, IHRA World Finals Presented by The U.S. Air Force featuring UTI CHampionship Sunday:

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
112 Pat Stoken 6 Scott Cannon
E2 ****WINNER**** 0.081 6.177 206.23 0.071 6.727 231.64
 Prior rounds:
E1 (C KING ) 0.068 6.135 227.50 (T PONTIERI ) 0.166 7.897 148.23
 Qualified: #13 6.122 229.78 #1 5.969 239.27
1:38 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 56 percent, barometer 29.85 inches, adjusted altitude 1,202 feet, track temperature 102 degrees.

Cannon's car started chattering the tires and fishtailing right off the starting line and the newly-crowned champion is in the trailer for the rest of the weekend. Stoken made a clean, straight run, not spectacular, but a winner.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
3 Mike Janis 77 Shannon Jenkins
E2 ****WINNER**** 0.087 6.200 195.22 0.080 15.866 57.75
 Prior rounds:
E1 (M HAGAN ) 0.099 6.103 237.05 (J HAMSTRA ) 0.087 6.806 158.76
 Qualified: #3 6.008 210.41 #7 6.077 231.16
Jenkins came in with just one good run in four tries this weekend, Janis has been his usual model of consistency. That held true for this round, as well, Jenkins with severe tire shake immediately, Janis smoothly down the track, though with his slowest run of the weekend, losing lane choice to Stoken in the semifinals.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
10 Kenny Lang 8 Jim Halsey
E2 ****WINNER**** 0.084 6.068 231.08 0.098 6.123 231.32
 Prior rounds:
E1 (M NIELSEN ) 0.040 6.049 235.76 (T GRAY ) 0.067 6.071 231.28
 Qualified: #4 6.016 236.42 #8 6.081 231.28
Good drag race, neither car having any visible problems, Lang with the better numbers and the win.

 Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
1 Quain Stott 1512 Mike Stawicki
E2 0.089 6.096 233.92 ****WINNER**** 0.078 6.059 230.69
 Prior rounds:
E1 (B AUXIER ) 0.098 6.040 236.96 (C RUSSO ) 0.077 6.272 195.08
 Qualified: #6 6.056 235.93 #2 5.979 233.16
Stawicki had a hundredth in the bank as he went by the tree and picked up a couple more when Stott's car made a move toward the centerline on the launch. Stott started reeling him in on the top end, but Stawicki's early lead proved to be the difference in another good drag race. Mike Stawicki's incremental margins: 60ft(0.015), 330 ft(0.055), 660ft(0.067), 1,000ft(0.059). MOV: 0.0481 seconds (approximately 17 feet). He has lane choice over Lang in the semifinals.
