By David Gerard

ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Alcohol Funny Car at the 2007 Knoll-Gas Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series, IHRA World Finals Presented by The U.S. Air Force featuring UTI CHampionship Sunday listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Bunny Burkett Runs 5.833/239.95, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.129/232.83, Was #15
Right Lane: Ronnie Midyette Runs 7.837/124.44, Now #16; Best prior run: 6.191/225.00, Was #16

8:45 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 72 degrees, relative humidity 49 percent, barometer 29.61 inches, adjusted altitude 1,455 feet, track temperature 80 degrees. Melinda Green-King is on the bump spot at 5.887.

Great wire to wire run for Burkett and a personal best ET to boot. She will move well into the field for now. Midyette is loose off the line, pumps it, and then gives it up.

Left Lane: Bill Naves Runs 11.957/70.10, Now #15; Best prior run: 6.128/225.22, Was #15

Neal Parker is on the bump spot at 5.865. Naves drives the tires loose off the line on his single and gets way sideways before giving up.

Left Lane: Tony Bogolo Runs 16.114/61.65, Now #12; Best prior run: 5.967/228.89, Was #11
Right Lane: Scott McNiece Runs 5.910/234.57, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.037/235.39, Was #14

Mc Niece run a long way very close to the guardrail trying to qualify. He runs a career best ET, but won't make the show. Bogolo has starting line problems, pumping the throttle and gives it up.

Left Lane: Melinda Green-King Runs 5.808/240.94, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.887/238.30, Was #9
Right Lane: Terry McMillen Runs 5.968/235.60, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.008/235.27, Was #14

Neal Parker is on the bump spot at 5.865. It's ladies #1 and #2, as the Mustang snakes it's way to the finish line and a new career best ET and season best MPH. McMillen gets into the fives, but still doesn't qualify,

Left Lane: Mark Thomas Runs 5.719/245.18, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.864/242.10, Was #7
Right Lane: Trevor Lebsack Runs 11.154/94.43, Now #14; Best prior run: 5.975/233.24, Was #14

POW! Thomas shows the ladies how to do it with a career best ET, fastest event MPH, and the new #1 position and "Last ManStanding" for now. Lebsack smokes the tires at the hit and won't qualify.

Left Lane: Terry Munroe Runs 5.739/242.45, Now #2; Best prior run: 5.828/241.15, Was #6
Right Lane: Neal Parker Runs 5.767/241.76, Now #3; Best prior run: 5.865/237.21, Was #9

What a great looking pair of side by side passes. Parker bumps into the field and into the #3 position. Munroe takes the stripe first and captures the current #2 spot.

Left Lane: Tim Stevens Runs 6.983/137.53, Now #7; Best prior run: 5.826/241.89, Was #7
Right Lane: Paul Noakes Runs 5.850/241.50, Now #9; Best prior run: 5.864/241.93, Was #9

Noakes uses a lot of race track getting to the finish line and it costs him. Stevens was chasing him until there way a Big Bang and flash of fire from the engine at mid-track. Nothing on the track, so we keep on running funny cars.

Left Lane: Laurie Cannister Runs 5.669/246.89, Now #1; Best prior run: 5.786/242.50, Was #4
Right Lane: Rob Atchison Runs 5.788/243.41, Now #5; Best prior run: 5.823/239.14, Was #6

Cannister show everyone how to do it with a great pass into the top spot and the Last "Man" Standing.

9:11PM Burkett stays #8 with a 5.833 ET.
