Pro Stock Motorcycle Qualifying Notes, Session #2

ENNIS, Texas - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Pro Stock Motorcycle at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 22st annual O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals presented by Castrol Syntec listing lane, rider name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:
Left Lane: Michael Ray Runs 7.277/183.10, Now #20; Best prior run: 7.271/181.50, Was #20
Right Lane: Jim Randolph Runs 17.939/39.23, Now #22; Best prior run: 17.885/39.16, Was #22

6:46 p.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 86 degrees, relative humidity 39 percent, barometer 29.35 inches, adjusted altitude 2,629 feet, track temperature 111 degrees.

Randolph comes off the line, gets about 100 feet out and the bike shuts off. Ray makes a good run, a career best for him, but he doesn't get in the show.


Left Lane: Joe DeSantis Runs 7.353/182.77, Now #19; Best prior run: 7.249/186.28, Was #19
Right Lane: Shawn Gann Runs 7.291/185.54, Now #21; Best prior run: 7.308/186.64, Was #21

DeSantis slows, Gann improves, but neither gets in the field.

Left Lane: Michael Phillips Runs 7.215/189.20, Now #17; Best prior run: 7.249/189.63, Was #18
Right Lane: Blaine Hale Runs 7.284/186.15, Now #18; Best prior run: 7.237/183.82, Was #17

Hale spun the tires a little off the line hurting his chances to get in the show. Phillips makes a decent run but not good enough.

Left Lane: Mike Berry Runs 7.184/185.49, Now #16; Best prior run: 7.209/183.34, Was #16
Right Lane: Chris Rivas Runs 7.210/182.03, Now #15; Best prior run: 7.175/180.81, Was #15

Berry improves a little but not enough to get off the bump. No help for Rivas.

Left Lane: Steve Johnson Runs 7.159/186.46, Now #13; Best prior run: 7.153/186.74, Was #13
Right Lane: Tom Bradford No Time, Now #14; Best prior run: 7.161/183.59, Was #14

Bradford had trouble before the burnout and did not make a pass. Johnson makes another consistent pass and stays in the 13th spot.

Left Lane: Craig Treble Runs 7.144/190.06, Now #12; Best prior run: 7.144/188.94, Was #12
Right Lane: Geno Scali Runs 7.150/187.78, Now #11; Best prior run: 7.137/188.25, Was #11

Treble runs the exact time he ran earlier today. Scali falls back a little.

Left Lane: Antron Brown Runs 16.734/38.82, Now #8; Best prior run: 7.126/184.98, Was #8
Right Lane: Matt Guidera Runs 7.132/186.02, Now #10; Best prior run: 7.134/183.97, Was #10

Brown has trouble right off the line and clicks it off. Guidera improves slightly but doesn't move up in the field.

Left Lane: Karen Stoffer Runs 7.045/190.16, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.103/188.17, Was #6
Right Lane: Matt Smith Runs 7.131/186.87, Now #9; Best prior run: 7.128/185.89, Was #9

Stoffer makes a big move, all the way to the top spot. No help for Smith.

Left Lane: Hector Arana Runs 7.053/189.18, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.097/186.72, Was #6
Right Lane: Eddie Krawiec Runs 7.076/188.10, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.105/187.03, Was #7

A couple of moves here, Arana goes to the fourth spot, Krawiec to sixth.

Left Lane: Angelle Sampey Runs 7.075/189.02, Now #6; Best prior run: 7.089/187.05, Was #7
Right Lane: Chip Ellis Runs 7.017/190.75, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.061/188.31, Was #5

Ellis makes a great pass here, right down the groove, and he moves to the top spot. Sampey improves slightly.

Left Lane: Andrew Hines Runs 7.015/190.62, Now #1; Best prior run: 7.052/189.73, Was #4
Right Lane: Peggy Llewellyn Runs 7.067/188.41, Now #4; Best prior run: 7.045/185.61, Was #3

Hines wants the top spot and takes it by .002 seconds. Llewellyn slows from her first pass and drops a notch.
