12:30 p.m. and we move into Comp. The track crew is doing a quick clean up and groom after the Pro Motorcycles.

It's a very sunny summer day here in Indianapolis. This is already the warmest day we've had since the race began. There are probably still those who will be able to sacrifice indexes at will, but I have a feeling that the number is down to less than a handful.

Weather conditions: air temperature 92 degrees, relative humidity 29 percent, barometer 29.19 inches, adjusted altitude 3,051 feet, track temperature 108 degrees.

Winget lines his bright red Cavalier up in the left lane. Coan makes a long burnout and Winget waits for him to get back to the line.

We start with our tradional red light and Coan returns.

Lots of people about how much performance Brogdon is still holding at this point. He's up against a very tough Greco so we're probably about to find out if there's anything left.

Brogdon leaves on Greco but gets pushed to going 524 under. We still don't know what's there.

Big handicap on this one and it's always tough for the fast car to wait.

The big rail is in the left lane.

Stewart bulbs and it's over quickly.

Two very good drivers match up in this pair.

Both wait in the water for a couple of quick wipes of the track and then do their burnouts.

Barone was pretty sharp putting Scotty in that beautiful roadster. The reaction times say it all as Richardson takes the win in a very close race.

In the Semis, Brogdon meets Coan while Richardson meets Bailey.
